Interesting-looking ideas.. how did they work out, like is it playable at all then?Exsurgo wrote: We can't just remove pve items from the game, and we can't put conditional checks on gear worn. The drama that would cause + it would screw over the few players who are interested in pve (something I/we are really trying to encourage).
I have experimented with some stuff:
1: Negative resilience on pve items (core does not support this, but could be changed)
2: A system were once a player goes past 250 resil, resilience is converted into both increased % damage done and a reduced % damage taken. (Effectively this would mean two players with the same 400 resil would do the same dmg vs eachother, but more vs pve-wearing players. It would also cause pve stackers to do less damage vs players with a lot of pvp gear.
3: Increase the resil or stam manually on some bits of pvp gear to make the pve pieces less desirable
Dude.. haven't we talked about that in another thread already? You're makin a fool out of you again..Osiriis wrote:i disagree man either it needs to be fixed or warrior dmg needs to be fixed i can upload screenshots and videos of just ridiculousness from warriors man..... im telling u theres something wrong :)Exsurgo wrote:Trust me, resil works fine.

Re: Lets discuss this once and for all
It is a nice linear formula that starts the scaling if a player has more than 250 resil.Swackx wrote:

So for example.
Player 1 has 400 resil
Player 2 has 400 resil
Player 3 has 0 resil
Player 1 vs Player2
Each player inflicts 8% more dmg vs players, but they also take 8% less damage from players, therefore the net difference is ~0
Player 1 vs Player3
Player 1 inflicts 8% more dmg vs player 3. Player 3 has no resilience to counter-act this damage increase, and so they take 8% more final damage.
It was an interesting coding experiment, that's for sure.

Well then ive got it right, and i also think its a very nice idea... however, i bet it has many haters too, since some ppl won't understand how tbc pvp actually should work.

Re: Lets discuss this once and for all
Thanks, I do appreciate that. I just wish there was a way to bring BGs etc to more in line with retail tbc without making significant changes, but such a thing is impossible.

The only way you can really get the authentic tbc experience is if you opened a progression server, that would be pretty cool. But would require a lot of work. I appreciate that you listen to the community, and I promise I'm not just against these ideas because I use PVE gear myself, but because there are already classes that vastly benefit from having full S4 gear while other classes benefit more from mixing in some PVE gear to make up extra dmg.
Since we're already off-topic I was wondering if any of you are into knives/swords? I bought a kukri about a year ago and I'm planning on buying 2 more.
This is the kukri that they use to chop off buffalo heads. Video below for anyone interested.

I'm also getting one of these:
These are a lot lighter but just as powerful, they're like swords more than anything. Also only like $100-$130.

pve gear is for pve period and to be used in mainly in pve raids or question situationsXaru wrote:The only way you can really get the authentic tbc experience is if you opened a progression server, that would be pretty cool. I'm buying one of those buffalo beheading kukris for my birthday. Good fun. Anyone else like knives/swords?
yes some pve gear has bonuses which help in pvp, true
but it was never intended to have ppl run around in full swp

Re: Lets discuss this once and for all
I think that there should be some change around haste. Its just ruining the server, theres atleast 2 haste stackers in every bg who only spam 1 skill, doing way to much dmg and destroying all the fun.
I dont know if it can be changed in any other way then removing the gear, which obviously wont happen.
Also if Resil works, why do i get 5.5k crits full resil capped? doesnt seem legit

Cube just forged that quotation , I never said hks should be disabled.Zapcraclepop wrote:You do realize, players don't gain HK's in Azshara Crater, yet camp the living CRAP out of anyone they can, right? Looks like I've missed out on some real quality gameplay these past few months, ;)

Probably because when you played on retail TBC you didn't have people wearing full swp gear/t6.Lightup wrote:I think that there should be some change around haste.
