Wound Poison and Stacks

Post by Henhouse »

So I was hunting around Trinity for a while looking at all their code commits and after lots of hunting I finally found their wound poison fix. It was a mega-fix patch which fixed all types of stacks for all the stacking problems.

It's a quite too many thousand lines of code for me to attempt backporting and then seeing if it's going to work or not. Who knows, maybe someone will backport it someday.

Now on the Trinity subject, recently a Trinity to MaNGOS covert was made. I wondered why it wasn't the opposite. Browsing the MaNGOS forums I frequently find people converting from Trinity. It's strange, but I believe they know Trinity is great for custom fixes, but doesn't have the stability MaNGOS does. MaNGOS typically releases updates that are going to work and have been tested. From what I've heard sometimes you can go a week or so with Trinity updates that are completely broken and/or corruptible to your database (DO NOT WANT). This is what I figured would happen with a user-driven project. Do not get me wrong, they've accomplished a lot but I believe staying with MaNGOS will always be the best bet. It's been around since like what, 2005? Still growing and never failed--once. :)

lol does Antrix/Ascent/ArcEmu/Aspire/orwasitAspen even still exist? That project failed time and time again until nothing remained of it I though.

Note: TrinityCore is a branch of MaNGOS founded by user-developers in late 2008. It is similar to MaNGOS, like it's child but has changed over time a little bit. Other server programs like ArcEmu are COMPLETELY different and bear no resemblance.
