Seems at peak times, It lags like hell. Not out about in general, But when you're either raiding or PvP'ing the server lag seems to kick in. I figured the server is run on a MangoS core which is only supposed to hold a low amount but everything it gets 70 ish this lag kicks in and you pretty much can't do anything but kick back and relax the mall, which is lame.
anyway, maybe you could change to Trinity? Not sure, But it would support more people and the more the merrier i figured?
PS; don't take it as a flame.
Server Lag.
Re: Server Lag.
It's just a threaded-core processing problem we're looking into addressing sometime. We'll be doing updates later this week to the core and possible implement the Intel Memory Allocator for MaNGOS and see if that helps with the threads.
I've also considered converting our systems to Linux as Windows is getting a little diminishing in preformance and error-handling. Linux is built for servers so at some time in the future we will look into switching to Linux for processing.
Converting to Trinity is not an option at this time. If you use the search tool on the forums you might find some serious-debated threads from last year regarding that. Firstly, Trinity is MaNGOS, it's just a user-managed version with lots of modifications. Something like ArcEmu is a COMPLETELY difference server core and would have NO affiliation what-so-ever with each other. Trinity, like MaNGOS, have the same structure and that's how we backported fixes from it a while ago. Sadly, I did convert our database to Trinity several months ago, but the variables and tables they used had changed too drastically so little to nothing worked like it should.
There was a Trinity to MaNGOS converter written for people leaving Trinity (see unlike MaNGOS Trinity can release some BAD updates which are fixed over a period of time. MaNGOS only releases very stable stuff that can have small hot-fixes). However, no MaNGOS to Trinity converter script has been written at this time so we'll take no further look into it.

Re: Server Lag.
Good news, the Intel Memory Allocater has been implemented into MaNGOS: http://getmangos.com/community/showthread.php?t=10221
Once it is back-ported to mangos-0.12(2.4.2 support) I'll make sure to get us updated when I can ;)

Re: Server Lag.
Yeah linux was always made for game hosting, Hardly uses any CPU/RAM and is so simple, I know Emulators i've been there and done that with my own servers, probably took the easy way out by getting re-packs and changeset fixes, minimizing the workload on my behalf but yeah. Yeah i know Trinity is the off-side of ManGos, but comparing Trinity core ( 2.4.3 ) to ArcEmu/Aspire/Novalogic ( if that's around ) etc, it shited over everyone, But it just depends how much work you can put into scripting and what not.
I enjoy this server, i've played at other 2.4.3 servers and they just bore me now, i would suggest something that might help out smolderforge but you've been up for over a year so obvisouly doing well.
Well hopefully that is omplemented, cause i do play at peak times and i'm forced to log off due to the server lag ( Core capping ).
Anyway, Thanks for the update champ.
Peace.
