Poll: Are You Looking Forward To Alterac Valley

Post by Henhouse »

I'm nearing the end of my work on Alterac Valley, and I must say --- it's looking great! The boss scripts are working great and I'll be starting on tower guard soon and finishing up some scripting.

I haven't decided if I want it 20v20 or 15v15 yet...

Heh... I wonder how many people on SF have never played AV and will be completely lost :P.

I personally don't see 15v15 or a 20v20 working with AV

I could be terribly wrong though.

It may be looking great, but it will only be popular for a few months at most, people will get bored of the big map and the lag from it, since it will be 15v15 or 20v20 which is pretty outrageous first of all. I'm not saying it shouldn't be implemented, but most people will get over it soon, unless you can offer a bigger reward instead of 4 BoJ you get 10, but you have to get a bigger number of marks, etc. And you can' t forget you have to make people WANT to play it, so it doesn't lose its appeal . You might want to change the rewards from month to month or something, to keep people playing. It can look good, but from the start 20v20 is going to be a long ass wait for 20 people to sign up after the first month or so. I hope it will last for a long time. It will be a great BG as soon as everyone gets used to it and people queue up.

I see what you mean, I'm going to be taking my approach to it very carefully then to avoid any problems. It's possible I'll make it 30v30 with high rewards, etc for playing in this. I believe everything on SF in terms of PvP might shutdown when AV opens (except arena probably).

In my opinion it should be a daily hour event every 3 hours or more.

The way I am designing it is so that pretty much the rest of Smolderforge shuts off, but not forcefully.

If you're in Hyjal you can stay, but if you return to the base you'll get instantly teleported to the battlemasters. If you're inside the Hyjal base, gates close with BG queuers. If you try to escape the base you'll get teleported back out. SC and SWV will close also, but if you're inside, you're fine. The portal to Quel'Danas with the NPC will disappear and along with the Liron Malfurion teleporter in the mall.

The room to the BGs will close and out on the steps you will be able to queue, if you try to get past the gate you'll get teleported out.

Arena will stay open.

I'm pretty sure that's as close to forcing them to play AV as we can get :P

Not that I have a problem with that... AV was always my favorite.

Yeah AV NEVER gets old. I'm bored of Isle of Conquest on retail already, but I think I could play AV all day. There is always something exciting and fun to do in there.

AV WAS my favourite too. Then came gladiator sets buyable with honor. I got SICK and tired of AV already when S3 started.
Currently, I don't even set my foot in AV unless its the daily BG.
