Macbook Connection Guide Please

Can someone refer me to one, I have installed the 2.4.3 client from TrueWoW and tried changing the realm list but farthest i've gotten is it saying Smolderforge server is offline on the selection screen.

Again I have a macbook I have even tried downloading the client from this website but don't know how to (extract) it? Is there a certain app i need.

What I downloaded from this website is, WoW TBC.rar which is a 8.37 GB DOCUMENT.
