Not sure what expansion you're talking about. Retail might have become more strict because the pandas have attracted a lot of kids so they have to keep the game more child friendly.
I've been banned about 8-10 times on retail. The max duration ban I recieved for "being toxic" - naming&shaming/insulting in the tradechat was a week.
Hacked several times in arenas, bgs and open PvP until I recieved a month ban and a warning just like yours. Used teleporthacks to go to GMisland and recieved a 1week ban.

As you can clearly tell there's a big difference between penalties on retail and on SF. And as far as classic and TBC goes, the 3 strikes = out system was WAY less strict, and if you didn't break any rules for some time your strikes were cleared, this is how I could collect so many bans without ever recieving one permanently. Also every GM would make a unique decision for every unique case.

Henry said you don't have to level characters on SF, and don't have to pay and this means that you risk a lot less compared to a retail account. I agree but the thing is why would players try so hard to get unbanned if they didn't value their accounts, maybe even more than some retail players.

Many players on SF behave toxic, but this is the internet. Picking and choosing a few of them won't solve the problem.

As I've said before, if you manage to get a permanent ban here, you're retarded. It's quite easy to not get perma banned. A bit simplified, but here's how it goes.

You do some stupid fucking shit, because you're a stupid fucking shit. You get slapped on the wrist. After this, you stop doing stupid fucking shit, even if you're a stupid fucking shit. Solved, you won't get perma banned.

People change, often for the better, and we don't have the means (the playerbase) to just exclude anyone who's a stupid fucking shit in our opinion. Because that description fits a lot of players in our community, depending on personal opinion.

What you fail to understand is that our opinion doesn't matter. We're guests here. If we overstay our welcome, we're out. Our host is gracious enough to grant the people dancing on the edge of his patience quite a lot of chances, in many cases more than they should deserve. In most of these cases, he's proven wrong by the very same people, since it doesn't matter if they've matured or not, they're still retarded enough to get booted.

That's fair.
