How many people can the server sustain?

I have no idea... it's never been stress tested this much before. Back in 2011 we used to have a lot of lag with 400+ on, which is why I put in a queue at 450... but things were less spread out back then than they are now, no spectating, etc. nowadays players are slightly more spread out which helps with lag (imagine 1 player moves in a pool of 400... that means 399 clients have to get sent the data that player x moved. Imagine 400 players all moving at once....).

Considering we had ~430 logged into the world, in BGs/arena/dungeons/dueling, and 100 in Guru all out fighting... it seemed fine. Granted... 5 years later we have a much better server hardware-wise so a lot of it can probably be attributed to that. The codebase is also better since 2011 -- not leagues, but some of the issues have been resolved/improved. But back then we didn't have pathfinding which was suppose to affect processing speeds but it hasn't seem to cause issues.

All in all, I think we can easily handle more, but there is a point to where the mall may simply become too overcrowded and require reallocating people in different locations. If that day comes, we'll respond to the need.

tl;dr: probably a bit more, may need to spread them out some if more come.

How about sharing population on the homepage of the server again?

I logged in and people were speaking English really good, too damn good. TBC is also being slowly ressurected...

So maybe now it's time to:

Make a new, improved, better review of Smolderforge (white it has decent population)?

Make people remain and become a better community overall? Be more polite and friendly? Help new players in any possible?

Spread the word about Smolderforge, because in all honesty even with a few bugs here and there - the population increase makes a big difference and Smolderforge feels reborn.

Find a solution to the lag problems and maybe help Henhouse and the team, make a more stable solid server that still offers all of these awesome features (custom scripts) that we all know and love?

Maybe add Twitch and YouTube links on the homepage? Maybe even a new post in "Latest news" about how "the population has doubled and more fixes are coming!" . Maybe a small description of what Smolderforge offers? Little things that make a big difference.

Lastly, something that doesn't depend that much on the community, as much as it does on Henhouse and the awesome folks helping him: Use the current but not perma death of Nostrils as your advantage and try releasing all minor easy fixes asap, so that the server looks as if it's quite stable? I think you're already doing that.

I feel like playing again and I soon will. I missed Smolderforge!

And no replies such as " You think you do, but you don't. ", please D: .
