Re: Impressions about ptaq's issue
It sums up what SF arenas are about, 3-4 arena teams dodging/insulting each others in order to get a clean ratio or just creating another team if it fails too much.Kez wrote:All my teams have a single loose
Anyway I respect mirok here who tried to demonstrate perfect composure, while explaining his point to such people who just sweep away every argument.
@Discyo Yep he got banned, but what is the matter ? I didn't say old game for nothing. ;)
@Kez If you truly supported Hen to make SF better, you would have stop, since long, insulting every arena player you can't twist around your little finger.
ah
Re: Impressions about ptaq's issue
It's a waste of time to try to talk to people who just won't listen to other options apart from theirs.
It's such a pitty this had to end like this but it seems like there's no way back. Many people did leave for Moskito long ago, many people did leave for Kez, many people did leave for Ptaq(including me), many people does not play because they are not willing to stand such a toxic atmosphere in this server. The main problem comes when GMs are just friends of these kind of players and they "protect" them in some way not to be taken measures against those people.
I'm not going to say that this is a problem which is just extended on this server because that's a problem anywhere else but it takes more remarkable when the community is small. Everywhere you look there'll be some1 complaining. You log for playing some games, people will stop playing, people will rage at you, people will think you are sniping, people will try to counter, etc. We have to deal with those problems.
Besides, I can understand Ptaq's banning reason, but what I see which is unfair in all this issue is that GMs think this problem will be eradicated by banning just one person. Ptaq aint evil nor we aren't angels, there are many people in his level or above who are just trying to look like this a pass problem for them but the thing is they keep acting the same way.
I'm not going to even bother to keep trying to solve this situation because I think it won't change but It's a mistake to think that with ptaq's left, things will change. "Untouchable players" will keep insulting you when you win them and doing the same things as they did before.

Re: Impressions about ptaq's issue
I do still believe this, and it is one of my fundamental beliefs, which resulted in me to giving people more chances. I think, however, that I often have been taken advantage of in that regard.Xios wrote:Henhouse usually unbans players after awhile, he believes that people change.
I do not like the idea of permanently removing anyone from something. I think it can be awful, devastating, and a sad loss of one's time. However, there comes times where this is necessary, whether it be hackers, chronic abusers, or people running out of chances. I have been criticized heavily in the past for my forgiveness of other players, and in so have a lot of ill-feelings aimed towards me for allowing toxicity to thrive on Smolderforge because of this. Have we not been hard enough on toxic players? It has been one of the hardest things to fight, and fight fairly. If we are too harsh, we push people off the server, if we're too light, the issue becomes worse and people leave. I've been struggling to find a middle ground for ages. Our staff is much smaller than it once was, yes that is true, which has made issuing punishment significantly harder. This is something we are still trying to find ways to properly address, and developing new systems for to help with.
The comments made about this issue being personal are greatly fictitious. We've had an interest in this player for some time causing issues, and issuing permanent mutes, suspensions, etc. which went unfollowed, or evaded on one of many alternate accounts. When we received a massive compilation of chat reports of this players verbal and toxic harassment, we as a staff, decided it was time to give up on trying to correct behavior, and simply put a final end to it. Perhaps we need to start doing this more, that I cannot say. However, I've now relinquished myself from the ban appeal review process, as many players feel I am too easy, and too forgiving. Because of this, I've opt-ed to no longer take part in it.
I'm afraid this decision is final, and there's no sense this continued drama on the forums.
