They would get an expansion ready before Icecrown Citadel is released.

Now that I have seen the actual ideas of the new expansion, it looks.... intriguing yet somehow disappointing. Using old content is great and all, but to completely revamp all of Azeroth is pushing it. Like recycling Naxxramas was fine because not many people got to do it. But to recycle MC and Onyxia, or to Recycle SFK and Deadmines....Sorry but that is over the edge for me. I like what it offers for low levels because it makes me want to level a new character in the revamped zones. Also the new rated battleground system is cool. Possibly a way to get away from really stupid arena system atm. Well I actually think I might quit retail before this comes out because hey, WOTLK is pretty much the same from here on out, I will wait for the latest and greatest of Cataclysm : )

WOW. Where to begin. For those who don't know, I was there at BlizzCon.

Well it all starts with Mike Morhaime and the opening cerimony. Finding seats was a joke. 26,000+ people there. So we sat on the floor. Mike says at one point "Everyone in this event is rooting for something Cataclysmic to happen!" then a lot of people were hooting. Then the awesome guy - Chris Metzin comes out, and talks about stuff with Diablo then asks where's the Alliance then "WHERE'S THE HORDE?!" (He's the voice actor for Thrall and a lore-lover) so that was great.

The trailer. Yeah we watched the same one, but imagine in on a MASSIVE screen with speakers so loud the floor was shaking. When the logo appeared at the end, it was so loud and amazing I can't really describe it. They had the Cataclysm panel and WoW Discussion panel today and so here's what I got out of most all of it. TBH, the best way to get the info is right off the WoW.com twitter feed or their site.

Basically, one of the 5 Dragon Aspects, the evil one, Deathwing was deep under the earth and EXPLODED out, and the explosion was so big, it caused earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, etc. Read more on lore to understand it better. Trust me it makes sense how Deathwing came out and stuff, it's really cool.

I'm just going to list these in random order I remember and mixed in which other things.

Yeah Worgen and Goblin are the new races, and they fit well into the lore. The Worgen, really are humans and they have their own town thing going on. When the plague took over Lordaeron, they sealed the wall. A Dalaran wizard -- Archmage Arugal (Shadowfang Keep boss). He basically, in order to protect himself was trying to protect himself from the Scourge so he turned creatures into Worgens(really I know I'm explaining it lamely.) and then the curse spread into Gineas. I got the play the starting areas and you basically are in one of those things used in medieval times -- they hold your head and arms in... forget the name. You take a potion which turns you to Human. You can turn back to Human whenever, but you will ALWAYS be Worgen in combat. Goblin/Worgen start at level 6 (just to get abilities right off the bat). Pretty neat questing hub, like DKs. Racials... uh 1% more damage. I forget the rest.

Okay Goblins, there are many groups of Goblins, the ones we normally see are the Steamwheedle Cartel. These are different Goblins that live on Kazan and ship wreak on the Broken Isles and Alliance and Horde are fighting each other. Alliance destroy their ship, they QQ and join Horde. Which makes sense anyway since Horde have Goblin shiprights. Their starting area in quite fun. The water is reflective now! Cool new graphics feature. They can like rocket boot in the air as a racial, summon a banker every 30 minutes, I forget the rest. "Best Prices, Anywhere!" -- Goblin vendor sound... yeah racial, you get instant exalted discount prices anywhere. >_<

New Race/Class combos I hate but oh well, I guess they just want to make it more covenant. I love when the picture of a Paladin Tauren came up and Tom Chilton goes "HOLY COW!" I just LOL'ed my ass off.

The are massively wanting to push content this expansion and it looks VERY promising. Grim Batol, Uldum, Mount Hyjal, etc, etc are all being opened. Sunken City of Vashj'ir will be an under-water city. They will make it easy to move around (you'll land on the ground in water)

Flying in Azeroth. In case you didn't know, much of the "old world" is blank terrain. They are gonna fix all this I guess (Yaa!) but it's interesting because like if you fly around in cities you'll notice towers and stuff don't have tops to them, ESPECIALLY in Undercity. Well... they went back and 3D textured it, and it looks great!

Copying and pasting this from WoW.com so I don't have to list it:

* Attack Power on gear is gone. Instead, some classes will get 2 AP from each point of Agi (Rogues, Hunters, Shamans, Druids), and other classes (presumably Warriors, Paladins, and Death Knights) will get 2 AP per point of Strength. Side effect: no more plate wearers stealing your gear
* Spell Power is gone. It comes from Int now.
* MP5 is gone. Spirit is the mana regen stat, and all classes that need it will get some form of Meditation. (Hunters, never fear - you don't use mana any more. More on this in a separate post.)
* Armor Penetration is gone. That one was just confusing.
* Defense is gone. Tanks are now defense-capped from talents, like Druid tanks.
* Haste now increases your rate of resource regeneration (mana, energy, rage, runes, focus).
* Block Value is gone, but blocks now mitigate a percentage of damage.
* Stamina is going to be more equal across different armor types - no more "plate HP envy."

Major re-do of gear here. Lots of deleting.

Hunters, Mana -- GONE. Now replaced with "Focus" works like Energy I think. Warlocks Soul Shards are no longer an item, but regen and are sort of like Runes for DKs, there are 3 and you can get them back and use them.

Ranks (for spells) GONE. Now when you learn them they will just get slightly better each level O_O.

GUILD SYSTEM: THIS IS COOL. Okay, this is cool, I know I just said that. Basically you'll be able to apparently level up in guilds and get achievements, but the coolest thing of them all in Guild Talents. I know, your like LOLWUT. But there will be stuff like "Mass Resurrect" "Lower Repair Bills(for wiping). Etc, etc. Just whatever you need to help out your guild.

Battle.net integration. I missed the panel but apparently it'll be like Xfire and you can see if Sabin is playing SCII from in WoW and say Hi from in WoW.

Rated battlegrounds. Okay... So I'll explain it this way. If you've never been good at Arena, for what ever reason, just don't like it, etc. These rated battlegrounds will allow a different experience for people that want to get PvP gear. And no, it's not handing it out, keep in mind the "Rated" part of it.

PvP. LOLWUT. Can't say anything yet, but the racials and new changes I heard are just lolfunny. For example, Fear will be instant-cast. Ehm.

That's all I can think of for now, but PLEASE read this, this, and everyone on here.

I'm so excited! I want to start playing the new race now, but.. can't. I think they are making a very appropriate move here -- redoing the world. The old quests are boring so they are revamping them to fit, re doing zones, etc. With this finishing of new zones, new content, cool lore I really think this is a promising expansion and I would simply call it "WoW 2.0" since it's like a whole new version of WoW now.

I'm excited and I'll see the other panels tomorrow.

Oh, yes I played Cataclysm, Diablo III and Starcraft II. Diablo III is fun, but needs a little work on multiplayer, was a little confusing with controls at first but the graphics are great and the game is fun, but I have no idea where I am or what I am doing.

StarCraft II: You can tell Blizzard has spent time on this game. Graphics are just amazing, the people's faces of the "Incoming Transmission" look real, cinematics are amazing. I died too much... I'm not sure why. Are you suppose to just have people die and die and die and die in RTSs? Doesn't make any sense... I sent them all in...

Cataclysm was simply the starting zones. Now, this is SO EARLY alpha that the map was just a sketch-out, etc so that none of the interface stuff is even in the game. One interface change I DID notice was the WHO list. Now you'll see 50 people instead of 49, but the big part is it'll tell you how many people it found (online in your faction) for example: "50 Players Displayed (1124 Players found)"
