Warglaives ...
Warglaives ...
I know there has been some discussion of offering Warglaives for a donation cost. (50 USD is the number I heard floating around, and I know it isn't even final that you would offer this anyways.)
I know you are looking to reward people who actually spend time on the server and with that in mind I came up with this idea:
Warglaives purchased for some large amount of badges? (500?) The number could be raised or lowered of course, but this way not every person will be running around with them (similar to when donors received them.) People will actually have to put in effort and work towards acquiring them.

Re: Warglaives ...
Let me first say that both of these claims are rumors. I will admit that while I was in development on Isle of Quel'Danas, Primez was helping me test out a few things and I mounted up on the Swift Dawnsaber, someone has begged be to give that mount to them, which it's a spell, not an item because it is NOT accessible to players. It was a Alpha-WoW mount they never added. But I've had several people mention it so I talked to Primez about selling it for a price (I've seen servers that sell Chromatic Mount for $25 -_-).Nutzz wrote:I know there has been some discussion of offering Warglaives for a donation cost. Then the mention came across Warglavies. We said that they would have to be VERY expensive an unappealing to buy so that only a few people would buy them, but if anyone did they would be master of arena pretty much, so that ended that discussion. Next day I heard everyone talking about selling Warglavies, the ironic thing, Primez never even mentioned it to anyone.
So we have not even really designed among that and don't really want to since Rogues are doing fairly well in arena right now.
Now the whole "Smolderforge is looking for a way to reward it's active/original members" I've heard several times and I honestly have no idea where this one came from. Sadly to say, this isn't true. We're not actively seeking a way to send out over 500+ special things to original players. Now the only thing I can think of to relate to this is people like Deems asking what in the world to spend his Honor points on; we're trying to add new ways to buy things. In fact, we're going to be removing Rivendare's Deathcharger, Swift White Hawkstrider, and Reins of the Raven Lord from a lot of people since they are VERY RARE mounts and we sort of just ... handed them out. They basically will appear in the mount vendor again later for honor points.
But that's all I have to say about that, I want to try to avoid selling items or spells, but I'm always debating with myself upon doing it. If we were to sell an item, the first would be the Swift Dawnsaber most likely.
On a side note about making glavies like 500 badges, this isn't a good idea. We once made them 60 badges and next thing we knew people were Win-Trading in battlegrounds to get marks ASAP, in addition a few speed hacked (when it was possible) through like 20 WSG to get marks. So when these items come available, major exploitation occurs and is the SAME reason we don't offer arena weapons for badges. We have MASSIVELY lowered the requirement for those though. They used to require team rating and like 3000+ points, now they are all 1000 arena points with NO rating requirement.

Re: Warglaives ...
Rogues are fine. Warglaives would make them more than fine. In my opinion make the glaives a decent price that like people will buy if they are avid about SF but not something that can break someone. $50.00 USD is a lot for some people even if they are just donating. $30.00 is a little better I think.

Re: Warglaives ...
Uhm, I like it but I don't like it, 50$ is WAY too much for two weapons, just donate for five dollars and you get a bit more power and stats over the s3/s2 people, but not even 30$ I wouldn't pay for it, I would, with 30$, if ever to donate make 6 donor chars and thats about it. Now I have a proposition of my own. Give the Warglavies to the top 3 rank teams, if they have a rogue team member. Just my opinion.

Re: Warglaives ...
Top 5 teams at the moment have a Warrior in them. And no they don't play Rogue Warrior. ^^

Re: Warglaives ...
Warriors can get Warglavies too, so that wouldn't be fair. Also IF the top teams would get Glavies, then this would bring a lot of people trying to Wintrade, and when they get it, they will dominate the next season.

I'm a bit amazed that people say Warriors are not even over powered right now when they are in all the top teams.
