Stormwind Vault was previously used.. Would be cool if it made a comeback.

Re: Unused/Awesome Areas
I agree we could really refresh the mall area.
But I believe we need an area that is cut from the rest of the world to make it a neutral zone, correct me if I'm wrong @Henhouse
I would also suggest Belfs starting area, I believe you don't need a SS of that.
Will post more suggestions later, going to explore.

I wonder if the mall area can rotate between some zones.. it could be fun :DSheLexa wrote:I agree we could really refresh the mall area.
Re: Unused/Awesome Areas
Anyone knows about the area near feralas (iirc) ? It's shown in some movies of Doom Squad members back there (Chrille,Noone,Tuska etc. ). I guess you could add this location as well to your list. Some of those areas are really cool and perfect for events.

Re: Unused/Awesome Areas
I don't get the GM Island one... since that's not really GM Island. I could let you take pictures if you wanted, but honestly I feel it's a place everyone has seen at least once. It's just an island beyond the end of the world with a house on it, and a graveyard. That's about it. We simply use it as a place to "be" as GMs when we're not spying on everyone in the mall and want some peace and quiet to do tickets or talk to players. It also has a mailbox. I use it a lot.... That's about it, lol.
I did want to comment on a few of your things: Stormwind Vault was our first custom-made instance, actually. I just removed it years ago because it was so bad. It was just me spawning and bunch of stuff and people would go in and kill the bosses for badges and what-not.
I could make a really cool new Heroic Defias instance in there or something. That'd be neat. SWV was originally the "attunement" for the original Scarlet Citadel as well due to some strange lore-tie-in I did, which doesn't exist in the newer version.
In regards to moving the mall: there are a lot of reasons I'm still not fond of the idea. Almost every seasonable event I have made I made for the mall, meaning I have to redo all of them to fit a new area. I suppose that's not the end of the world, but... the South Seas mall is iconic to Smolderforge. We started using it in 2008 and to move it now would be... odd. I like South Seas due to its remote location and keeping players rather close together. It also makes it nice for technical reasons. eg: players cannot walk across an area/zone border and get flagged for PvP, or fly outside the zone too far without getting dismounted (since flying is only enabled on the islands). There's just a lot of reasons I suppose I am opposed to it. We did half-ass new malls in 2011 -- the ones in Aldor Rise and Scryer's Tier are still there from 2011. But there were insanely unpopular. They're not good, I'll admit, but the idea was to test to see if people would actually go to these remote areas to buy stuff and camp, but we found out that people would rather stick together than be alone.
Commenting on a new dueling location: hey! This I am actually totally cool with chatting about some. The neutral dueling area at the moment is not my favorite location. We simply placed it there because we rushed releasing neutral dueling and needed a remote place that you couldn't leave, and it sufficed well enough. I've often gotten complaints that it is dark and gloomy so I wouldn't be opposed to moving it at all. Would love to hear other's thoughts and ideas!

Re: Unused/Awesome Areas
Hello,
Thank you for your input, I removed the GM island part, it was a very old "private" joke.
I completely understand about the mall. I really hope few areas could be used to break the "routine".
edit: Before I forget it again, what's your point of view on the profession areas ? Wouldn't it be better to put everything in an unique area, but separated into two spots, indicated by specific objects of the required reputations (SSO/Aldor&Scryers). We could even have portals on these spots, to directly teleport players to the required rep zone.
I agree with you about the dueling location, a lack of " conviviality" I guess.

Re: Unused/Awesome Areas
Pyrewood seems very suitable, next to shadowfang, maybe you could do a mall there with some heroic quests for SFK and farming by killings wild worgens for honor point, and why not, make it a pvp zone outside of pyrewood? XD
