Spec and gear storage.

Post by Hardlight »

With so many things to do on this server, most players finding irritating to swap between gear sets.

It's just a suggestion, but have donar talent/gear save slots.

Players can donate to have talents and gear saved to an NPC... so instead of going to the taxi and getting a talent reset and than to your bank to get the gear to ready for one measily heroic quest, players can opt to get a gear/talent save slot...thus making them swap gears and talents at a single click.

Yes I'm aware there are addons - but this would be really helpful and a nice accessory.

and you mentioned there are addons, and it takes about 10 seconds to change spec. so it's pretty useless imo, too bad dual specialization came out on wotlk.

Yes there are addons, but some people might be lazy to get this addon/run toasters and don't want it running in the background... Per say, if this server did offer this function, at the cost of ingame currency (and or donation), would you use it?

No ?
Players want to get improvements, but with a free access. If the ingame currency can be used to get something else like gears, they are clearly unlikely to "buy" these features.
Vote points, maybe... But it's mainly to get BoJs and rename tokens.

I have brainstormed this over the years and how there could be dual-wielding on TBC through programming it. It's possible, but it would require a LOT of design and would NOT at all be like the one implemented in Wrath. Like days, tons of testing, tons of feature writing. Then of course has to be well tested for any possible exploits. It would have to work via commands given to player. Eg: .char specswap and have all your spells de-linked and somehow stored somewhere else while new ones are ushered it. It would most likely require a relog on TBC to work correctly (not too bad). Action bars are saved in the database so it would be possible to assign these to each spec to so that once you swap, your action bars update too.

So, yes, it's possible. Maybe if I am feeling super brave I'll attempt it this summer. But I will likely prioritize a bit of things over it. Maybe one day, but it would be a lot to program.

Yes, this feature would be free most likely. I don't really think utility tools like this should be earned. I mean there's room for debate about it costing honor, etc. but who knows.

So it will look like an "item" same as a macro does and you just "buy" it and the spec/gear are changed? Neat :D

Itemrack, outfitter...

Honestly, it's not that bad. Organize your bank and put gearsets in their own bag. That cuts the time down quite a bit.

If it does come, though, I agree it should be free. There's enough on the donor page, imo (too much, really.)
