Premade Starting Gear

Post by Akeno »

Just gonna add this topic,i know it's been discussed but i still want to see everyone's opinion about it. I still happen to see a lot of people with the wrong kind of gear or gems so it would be nice if there's some kind of a ''dress-up'' npc . It will save up quite some time and it would give new players some idea of what kind of weapons/gear/gems/enchants they should use and start with.

I know there are some people around with wrong items in comparison to their class/talents.. but isn't that the way it should be?
Making several examples of how you could gear seems like a very nice and polite idea to do but there are exceptions, everyone (should have) has their own setup.

No meaning of burning your topic down, I really like the idea ^_^

Would be awesome if such a feature also added suggested talent setup. There are enough omen of clarity balance/resto druids here.

Hey guys, thanks for replying so fast. @ Athene,oh i completely understand that, but i'm not sure people who haven't played WoW much or at all can really be that creative and think of their own style, plus im pretty sure that even if you become some kind of starting gear, you can always swap a few items you don't like. Or you could play with this gear until you get the hang of your class and create your own kind of style which suits you and your needs. @ Bucovsky, yes i was thinking about that too. I think we already have quite a few talent setups to choose from, specially because of the post you made a few months ago. I think they can be implemented along with the required gear for them. Plus that would make a lot of players try some different kinds of talents or even classes they aren't usually good with, because now they'll have a base to step on instead of asking questions in the general chat or spending time looking for too many guides on the internet.

I usually meet players who say they either don't care about build/gear because it doesn't matter or they have life so they don't need good setup. I don't even know what kind of excuse it is. I also think that creating optimal gear for new players wouldn't be that hard. There are many theories which setup is better, if spell penetration or 10+% hit rating is better than xx or yy, but I'm sure it's easy to create particular set of items/talents that will be simply good to play with. All those slighty differences matter on more advanced level of gaming, so new players wouldn't have problems with that.

We'll be implementing a system like this soon. It will add gear, enchant it, gem it and learn talents based on which specification. We'll probably focus on it being oriented towards PvP setup, and leave PvE to the players to come up with.

I'm sorry, but is that a problem? In case you haven't known, everyone does that. Companies, musical artists, people, etc. We adapt that which other people make. Look at the smartphone, tablet market, for example. Do you honestly think all those ideas were completely unique and not at all related?

This is a beneficial feature, we actually did one similar 3 years ago on our Pre-TBC server with starter gear so I guess.... COPY MORE FROM US AT then? Okay. It's a useful feature, and we're implementing it. Many servers try copying our design features, systems, even our website. I don't care. Welcome to the club where good innovation and ideas are important to stay relevant and new. We're a 6 year old game, we have to add new things.

But you're a smart guy. I should go apologize for incorporating an idea that AT never invented themselves in the first place.
