very rare times there arent enough players on or to many hordes/allys but thats normal on a private server. enough pvp going on maybe if you only play at 5 am you could run in those situations more often than others get a job then.
bgs are fine the way they are. on retail the bgs werent balanced or full of brained players at any given time and fuck either so of course you sometimes see that here too but overall you can do great bgs on smolder so dont complain
