I can see your point. I personally think it is good that average players had more room to improve. It's pretty sad that decent players didn't have that luxury and as such were at a disadvantage, but tbh I don't see any way that could 've been fixed.Cube wrote:Sure, rating got inflated for most low-mid rated players. But it was faaaar more apparent the lower rating it was. What happens when the skillcap gets reduced, and the game becomes easier is that average players have a lot of room to improve, and have an easier time doing so, while good players have way less room to improve, and have a hard time doing so.
Maybe, I do not know. Didn't really play arena during S9. had like 50 games played or something with green/blue gear. Only stayed through the season due to friends, otherwise would've quit sooner.Cube wrote:So what happened in cata was that the "skill" tiers, if you will, got totally fucked. Where players on about the same level went up against each other in previous seasons, more average players popped up against better players in cata, and had a bigger chance of beating them.
I'll agree here.Cube wrote:A couple of examples that dumbed down the game was the ridiculous amount of self healing introduced, Blizzards "fix" for stealth, Blizzards "fix" for jumping charges, instants becoming king while casting became less and less useful (a trend that continued to escalate), casting on the move, triple dps anyone? This is just the tip of the iceberg.
True.Cube wrote:And about the binds I mentioned, didn't mean it went for everyone. As I said, just a fun fact. Casters got a lot of shit removed in cata. From a mage pov, a lot of r1 crap got removed from tbc to wrath (everything except r1 frostbolt and dampen, and in very few cases r1 dragon's breath and brilliance), and from wrath to cata, a lot of spells got removed, way more than was introduced, on top of r1 spells getting thrown out as well. Not that it mattered much though, as long as you had ice lance you were all set. Rogues got shit tons of binds in wrath compared to tbc though, at least if you play sub. As muti it's still fairly sparse.

I generally agree. So, yeah, it seems that S9 was a bad example on my part. Oh well.
