Re: something.
I think it's a good idea, actually.
We have people who got their titles by paying for it, not dropping any names... Though, I'm sure he'll go nuclear again if this passes, but oh well. The point is, we have people with titles who have let their 'skill' atrophy, and all they can do now is talk shit. Not that we have a shortage of shit talking, we do that better than GY farm. But it'll be interesting to see how many of them would rise up to try and regain the title, or cry in a corner.
Before someone says it, [likely cube] No, I don't have the title. Do I even want to waste my time? No. I don't play a rogue, or a disc priest. However, people do. And I feel that title should mean something. My two cents.
Edit: Speaking of which, good job Phildo. I heard you smeared some tard's face in the mud today, Thatta boy. <3 Pity that didn't give you any rating though. You earned it, imho.

Up until the end of wrath, sure. Saying s9 was more 'complex' and had a higher skillcap is just fucking ridiculous. S9 was the season where the ~1800 players magically ended up at 2-2.2k. So yes, I can deny it. Just because new things are introduced, and players have to get used to them, doesn't mean it has to get more complex. In wow's case, it's the opposite at times.QuantumVoid wrote:Speaking from personal experience. I quit at the end of S9. Up to that point, I think you can not deny I'm correct. WotLK requires far more skill than TBC (mainly due to the very fast pace) and S9 was a decent season as well, imo. Idk how things are now on retail though, and wether the game has progressed or went to hell.
I think the game becomes more and more complex with every expansion, as new things are added and players have to adapt to a more complex gameplay. Now, wether or not said gameplay is retarded/fast-paced/skillful/whatever is another story. My original point is that it is undoubtedly more complex. Maybe I didn't write things down correctly.
Funny note about the binds you mentioned. I have about the same amount of binds in wrath as I do in tbc, and had less binds in cata.

Your point being? They were not the only ones. Yes I'll agree that S9 gave some more space to high-rated scrubs, but I think you're not getting the full picture. S9 was a season of huge changes, overall, in various game mechanics. Also, to counter the rating argument: A friend of mine went from 2.3k to nearly 2.7k during that season. (And so did other high rated players) Your argument would be more valid if said 1800 scrubs went to 2200 and normal 2200 players went to like 2.3k or something. But that was not the case. In short, the rating simply got inflated FOR EVERYONE.Cube wrote:S9 was the season where the ~1800 players magically ended up at 2-2.2k.
I'll agree that WotLK was ten times more skillful than Cata/S9 though, and tbh that was my main point. I mentioned S9 because from what I've heard it was the only Cata season somewhat worth the fuss.
Anyway, shouldn't have even mentioned S9, but whatever. I think you're still getting my point.
Edit 1: Yeah, I agree, in WoW it can be the opposite, but that's simply because Blizzard has gone downhill on developing their now shit game. I moreso meant that as something (in general) evolves, it becomes more complex, as that is the most common natural way. I can see what you mean about WoW though.
Edit 2: Idk, compared to TBC I had a lot more keybinds in WLK and compared to that I personally had even more keybinds in Cata. Even if you count out Rupture (which in 90% of cases was useless in Cata), Rogues got several more skills and you could combo them together with old stuff. From a Rogue PoV, Cata had more keybinds.

In any case, I think we're starting to derail the thread, and it'd be a pitty, since it's a good thread. Also, I have a cup of coffee to drink, so, you can go fuck yourself with your arguments, Cube. (<3)
Re: something.
Sure, rating got inflated for most low-mid rated players. But it was faaaar more apparent the lower rating it was. What happens when the skillcap gets reduced, and the game becomes easier is that average players have a lot of room to improve, and have an easier time doing so, while good players have way less room to improve, and have a hard time doing so.QuantumVoid wrote:Your point being? So what happened in cata was that the "skill" tiers, if you will, got totally fucked. Where players on about the same level went up against each other in previous seasons, more average players popped up against better players in cata, and had a bigger chance of beating them.
A couple of examples that dumbed down the game was the ridiculous amount of self healing introduced, Blizzards "fix" for stealth, Blizzards "fix" for jumping charges, instants becoming king while casting became less and less useful (a trend that continued to escalate), casting on the move, triple dps anyone? This is just the tip of the iceberg.
And about the binds I mentioned, didn't mean it went for everyone. As I said, just a fun fact. Casters got a lot of shit removed in cata. From a mage pov, a lot of r1 crap got removed from tbc to wrath (everything except r1 frostbolt and dampen, and in very few cases r1 dragon's breath and brilliance), and from wrath to cata, a lot of spells got removed, way more than was introduced, on top of r1 spells getting thrown out as well. Not that it mattered much though, as long as you had ice lance you were all set. Rogues got shit tons of binds in wrath compared to tbc though, at least if you play sub. As muti it's still fairly sparse.

This is the best idea I've seen in a while. Only the people who can't achieve their title for a second time would cry so much about this.
