SmolderForge Vanilla????
Re: SmolderForge Vanilla????
Using the 2.4.3 client and removing as much TBC content as possible means a stable core that works well. That's how our vanilla server ran the first time around. The problem came down to not having a large and committed enough community and not having a proper team to work on raid scrips. If the planets aligned in the future another attempt wouldn't be unlikely, but as it is now it wouldn't work for the same reasons as before.

It's funny, really.
Everyone begs for vanilla, yet when it comes out, no one logs on to it.
Same thing with Wotlk.

Re: SmolderForge Vanilla????
Yeah, me and Creepers come from Absolute Virtue a 2.4.3 pre TBC server. It was pretty cool, eventually they implemented a custom patch for talents.Robotking wrote:i played on a vanilla realm with burning crusade client for more than a year. most of bc talents and skills were deactivated. it was totally different to retail vanilla but still good playable. rogues were op but thats nothing new :D

Anyways talking about that custom patch, does anyone remember a same sort of server where you started in WPL at lvl 55 and had to lvl to 60. They gave you a custom patch.mpq which changed the whole area @ WPL. And the rumor was that Vurtne played it.
Just wondering if anyone else knew about this server..

Anyways, you're thinking of Total War. That server was pretty badass, too, until shit went down.
Re: SmolderForge Vanilla????
That was the same design that Smolderforge Vanilla had. You started at level 55 and had D1 gear, when you killed dungeon bosses they dropped dungeon tokens which you traded in for D2 gear - how awesome is that?
