Poll results & comments - April 25th, 2013
Once again, thank you all for another wonderful round of polling feedback! It's really great to be able to collect this data straight from the game-server's population. Total, we collected 1615 responses from you all. Just around the same as last time, which is good.
Please remember the data we collect is for consideration and for gathering community opinions. The selections on here are you share with you the feedback we collected, and our thoughts on it.
Poll 1: Should Alterac Valley's timers be altered, one per day, or removed altogether?
AV earlier in the day: 202
AV once per day, not twice: 171
Remove all AV, only have 3 BGs: 241
Response: This is a very touchy subject. A lot of people dislike AV, and a lot of people enjoy it. Not many servers are able to offer AV, and it took us a long time to be able to do that. Despite the stigma behind it, I always have thought it was a nice addition to Smolderforge. As we can see, a lot of people voted against it, but the majority of people were in favor of simply altering the currently schedule than just removing it altogether. With this feedback I think it would be likely better for us to reduce AV to once a day (crashes a less likely with only 1), and make that earlier in the day as people have suggested before, rather than removing AV completely from SF.
Poll 2: Do you think the 200k maximum HK cap should be removed?
Yes, remove the cap: 248
No, leave the cap: 132
Raise cap to 300k: 177
Response: The 200k cap was put in place to attempt to thwart the massive FAK vs. Ezatt guild wars back in the day. This however never really was a solution to anything. They either rerolled, new guilds arose, fell, etc. Nothing was solved due to this cap, and never really accomplished anything. We will remove the cap soon, and restore the final HK count that was left in place before the HKs were reset back to 200k.
Poll 3: Should we disallow trading/selling of accounts?
Yes, enforce it. Suspend/ban accounts: 188
Disallow, but do not enforce: 156
No, allow people to trade/get scammed, etc.: 100
Response: Surprised outcome actually. I can see many SF players are sick of the spam and would like us to get rid of this kind of commotion on SF. While I agree with it being disallowed, I believe it may be very difficult to completely enforce this correctly. Banning everyone asking to trade may cause more problems in the long run. We will look into this, however.
This was the first time I collected type-in feedback. I thought this was a great addition to the poll services. About 1/3 of them were spam, and the others were legible. Thank you for the suggestions and feedback. I have read them all and taken them into consideration.

I agree Henhouse, keep AV as once per day maximum, what I was thinking is in order to get people excited why don't you make AV have increased honor per game, not only that but make it so that capping towers etc. all pay off with huge honor bonuses for the team, that way people will be motivated to play AV properly and not just HK farm. This will be a good idea I think. If not per day then you could try once per week, the build up to a weekly AV with big rewards would be exciting for all. Removing AV altogether is a bad idea because even though people like myself hate it, I know for a fact that I will come to miss it. And so will other people. And as you said, it took you long hours to make it work. It would be a shame to get rid of it. Speaking of which, hope you turn Hyjal into something unique, what about Hyjal day and that other place day alternating weekly/daily?
Also, I agree with removing the HK cap. The reason why is because everyone has been given a cooling off period and love them or hate them Ezatt and Firstaidkit have done more to define this server than anyone but yourself. They put in a lot of work and forged guilds that made people feel like something mattered, because it did matter if we won or lost. Our pride was at stake. However if the parties begin arguing on the forums or on LFG you should re-enforce the rule as it will be a while before someone else gets 200k.

Yeah, which was the main problem.Xaru wrote:... Ezatt and Firstaidkit have done more to define this server than anyone but yourself...
Not saying don't remove the cap though, personally don't give a shit.

I'm dumbfounded. "Hmm... HK farming is a problem. Wait! I know how to fix it! Lets remove HK cap!". What a great fucking idea.
I don't mean disrespect to you at all Hen, but that is just the most stupidest thing I've seen in a really long time. You know that HK farming is a problem - how would you even possibly think that removing the HK cap is going to do any good? It'll only make things worse because you've essentially just told them they can go and farm them even more.

All that is better than whats currently happening (or previously happened) without the HP cap in place. I WISH people were rerolling (in best case scenario, to a different class). Atleast it gave some incentive for people to reroll. What about now? There is no chance someone will reroll. Why would they? It was not a forced reroll either, you could keep playing on your main char if you wanted just for the sake of pvping, but some simply chose to reroll to gain HKs again.Henhouse wrote:This however never really was a solution to anything. For a while it was normal for a couple of friends to go in a BG just to kill people. They did not "need" HKs, they did it just for the sake of killing people. PvP at its finest. Whereas now, they form larger groups (up to the whole team) and focus solely on camping the enemy team for maximum HKs per BG.
I wish people were making new guilds. I wish guilds would fall apart that often. I fucking wish. Removing the HK cap pretty much means everyone will join Passion or whatever FAK's (or whoever is "top Horde HK" guy's) guild is and do nothing but farm HKs. Why would anyone make a new guild to fight against Passion in farming when you could simply join the guild and gain the benefit of getting HKs in a group whos already good at it?
Did HK cap REMOVE HK farming? No. Did it greatly reduce it? Yes.

when can we expect some changes about AV? unplayable at the moment. Vanndar is totally bugged, he's getting out of his fortress and people are attacking him outside.
