I don't think arena point rewards are very effective considering the amount of s4 donors that play. I have a char sitting on 2k points with nothing to do with them

Great idea with this.Actually its only 2vs2 available with rolling all time same teams(PR/DR/DW and sometimes PM).If its start im gonna search for double 3`s teams, for my lock(search for war and droo in horde) and my disc(ds and mage),whisp me in-game.

Excellent idea! 3v3 time blocks to gather the people; the possibility to monitor wintrading; the unique rewards to encourage competition. I'm thrilled to see this implemented.

Exsurgo wrote:So as many of you may know, 3v3 was disabled due to rampant and prolific win-trading that took place.

Due to the lack of activity on the bracket compared to 2v2, the effectiveness of such underhand tactics was much more damaging to the bracket as a whole.

Nevertheless, almost everyone I talk to is very keen for 3v3 rated to be brought back. What we need for a successful 3s bracket is two things:

1 - GM/Admin and Community vigilance against win-trading

2 - A decent player-base

One possible solution is to make 3v3 available in a similar manner to Alterac valley. So we could have a global announcement at say three - one/two hour blocks per day. Such a system could help to concentrate the available player base for players of different time-zones. I would very much appreciate if people could share their thoughts on a system like this. It could also ensure that times of the day/night where win-trading is heavily present could be monitored or disabled.

The second consideration is rewards. I would like to think that people would be interested in playing 3v3 for fun, but the reality is that often to create competition a degree of prestige or reward is required. Any feedback on this would be much welcomed.

I'm sorry but blocking it just so people can monitor wintrading is counter-productive, there is an anti-wintrading system implemented (or if it hasn't yet it is ready to be put in from what I've been told by henry). It shouldnt have to be blocked, if people are shit enough to have to wintrade they're shit enough to be shit with season4, same goes with donating for s4 doesn't automatically make you good. If you see someone with a mount only obtainable via 3s or 2s just report the name and have someone look over the logs. I see no reason to disactivate 3s for the same reason that 5s and 2s shouldn't be disactived to reduce wintrading: traders gonna trade, that's what they do.

Countering win-trading by having time-blocks was a tertiary reason. The old 3v3 system did not work very well, it was impossible to get games without spamming lfg (not that there is anything wrong with organising games together).

Look at how the AV system currently works. AV games actually happen. Can you imagine if AV was spread out across the day, games would never happen.

Also the effect of win-trading on the 3v3 bracket will always be more severe due to the smaller player-base. A large % of the old 3v3 bracket was dominated by win-traders. Yes we have the new system, but leaving it all down to automation seems a troublesome prospect.

I think we need to be reaslistic about 3v3, for organisational reasons many people prefer 2v2. We will probably not get a big 3v3 playerbase, so I feel we need to concentrate the bracket around blocks of time to get people out of the 2v2 queues and into 3v3.

I do feel we really need to make a special effort to get a competitive 3s bracket, time blocks, special npcs, special server announcements and such.

I totally dig what you're saying but if that's the case disable 2s for the 3v3 hours / whatever it is to funnel people into them so they HAVE to play or just not do arena, but if they do they reap the benefits of a certain amount of honour / arena points per win.
But by disabling the 3s bracket all other times but the appointed hours you're crippling the people who cant play at peak because of work, their timezone or that they're just not feeling it at that moment in time.
The fact of the matter is that wintraders are always going to be there and if you're basing a system around fuckheads that abuse a concept you're going to cripple the community at large and the idea that smolderforge can be bigger and better than people who feel the need to do it.
