Need help with downloading

Post by airkempo »

So i downloaded the WoW Burning Crusade 2.4.3 (Pre-installed client), along with FinalTorrent to "mange". But Ive never used torrents or anything before and honestly im really confused. Finaltorrent finished downloading but now what? I try to double click and it doesn't do anything. Any help will be appreciated

I guess i should add that this is my first run at private also.. I have WoW cata but i deleted it because i thought it would interfere because this is BC? Did i fail on that part?

Tried changing realmlist to
set realmlist connect.smolderforge.com but still tried to download to 5.1

I'm confused, you say it downloaded and you "double-clicked" and it didn't do anything, but then you proceed to make it sound like you figured out that you needed to extract the .rar file.

I'm afraid you didn't really give me anything to work with to help you here. If you did extract it, make sure the realmlist is .wtf and is in the same folder as the Wow.exe process.

Im sorry i just realized how bad that sounds, i would be confused to. Let me readdress the issues im having.
I just re-downloaded WoW( i currently have cata), would this interfere with how this server is BC?
I was looking for realmlist.wtf but could not find it in its usual locations (WoW file or enUS), i did create realmlist.wtf and added .......set realmlist connect.smolderforge.com.... and put it in the enus file.
When i launch wow from the desktop icon i get "failed to extract files from archive", but when i launch the actual "World of warcraft launcher" it goes through.
But when i do try to log in it says its still trying to connect to blizzard.

If you are using the standard downloadable 2.4.3 client then the realmlist.wtf should be in the same directory as the wow.exe. You also must run the client via the wow.exe. If you have used the default launcher then it has probably already started upgrading your files to Pandaria and you will need to start again.

You do not need to delete Cata, but you do need to put your 2.4.3 client in a directory with a different name because If you install retail again by default it will overwrite anything in C:/Program Files (x86)/World of Warcraft.

Your torrent has probably downloaded the files to your download folder, so you should be able to easily find them via file explorer navigation. If the file is compressed then dowload 7-zip to extract the file.

Normally you should not have to reinstall anything. As far as I know the 2.4.3 client comes pre-installed. You just need to extract in, but in in the directoy of choice, set the realmlist, and then run wow.exe.

Can you link me the download you used? The client is actually a folder (which is a collection of files)
