Hen needs a handy man

Post by Flenars »

Henhouse, I beleive it's time to find a GM that you can trust to help you with stuff such as transfers. I do realise it takes a while during holidays but a GM you trust can help you with that during the holiday xfers because waiting for more than 5 days seems to be a bit too long.

I think I serviced yours not too long ago. As stated, there is a wait time to be expected due to the fact I received so many transfers around Christmas time.

It's not that I am THAT overwhelmed, it's that transfers are low-priority. Regardless of whether you paid the fee. There is so many other things on SF that requires more higher attention, and since transfers come in all the time, I do not drop everything I am doing to service them. I do several a day, and then carry on with my business. They take a long time to perform depending on the complexity of them, and they are very boring to do.

Half of the time people do not even give me the proper information so they wait days for me to email them back to tell them they forgot ____, or forgot to make the character to transfer to, etc. Or like today, I had a race change where the person forgot to set the class, so I ended up transferring all his stuff to a Warrior which of course.... wasn't pleasant. So here he is with an unplayable character and me waiting on his response to recreate the character so I can transfer it AGAIN.

No GM would have any desire in doing transfers anyway. They're also direct involvement within the database, which is direct access to fuck everything up if someone wasn't careful. I'd rather I handle them.

I would be more than happy to help if you ever sought it, regarding this. Boring or otherwise, I'm always happy to help out whenever I can. (=

It's not that easy to "fuck everything up." Minor mistakes -Transferring to the wrong account or transferring the wrong item- are inevitable, but wiping half of the players off of SF? Not really likely >_<.

All it takes is a couple of punching of keys and an execute order and it's done. The possibility is always there. But it's far too easy to completely RUIN a character by transferring their items into the void and completely ruining them which isn't I've accidentally typoed and done before, so it's better I handle them.

Yes, but you could easily transfer an item without executing anything. All that needs to go down is a little modification to your Character_Inventory table in the Chars DB (Or however it appears for you). Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that seem a little less risky (Instead of having a typo in one of your execute orders)?

Not trying to antagonize you or anything of the sort, just trying to understand why you won't let anyone help you D:
