Let me start this of with saying that I know it is early days on the server and what I am reporting is not a massive deal. However I think it is something to look at in the future.
Early tonight there was a warlock who would stand at the edge of the raised section beside the teleport master and would apply dots to players in the arena. By standing on the very edge of the raised area they could not be attacked by melee of the same faction but could damage them with relative impunity.
I think it is one thing to head down the ramp or set a portal outside the arena, head down and dot people up and then run back into the same-faction safe zone. At least that way they can be attacked by melee of the same faction. However standing on the raised section they are effectively invulnerable.
(On live (tbc) servers I seem to remember there was a cooldown counter so if you ran into the arena and attacked someone for a certain period of time you were flagged to the same faction. A system like that would work better.
Anyway I feel locks are already strong in Gurubashi with demonic-portal and using this 'game mechanic' makes them immune to the same faction. The player in question defended the activity as a use of game mechanics. Could we maybe get clarification on this issue as to whether or not it is an acceptable form of pvp?
Regards
Note I didn't take any screenshots/footage because I think as a community such measures shouldn't be necessary with the vast majority of players, and also because it is not confirmed as cheating/abusing.

Re: Potentially Dubious Gurubashi Mechanic
This is why Gurubashi is never really a sensible choice for a PvP activity. It's not really designed to be fair or balanced in any way, and it's very hard to balance it.
The only real solution I see is to flag the outside area as a sanctuary so that Horde and the Alliance cannot attack each other. Players outside the ring, will not be able to attack players in the ring unless they jump in as well.
I think that's the best solution, however I think the PvP outside of the ring adds a lot of fun to the game. There's walls, hills, lots of objectives for LoS, etc. The ring seems boring by itself, doesn't it? I don't know. I'd like some other's opinions I guess.
We can always move it to like Blade's Edge, or Nagrand area and have players start out inside closed doors and be teleported outside of them to the actual arena.

I think that (world) pvp outside the ring does indeed add a fun element to the area and it might be a shame to make it into a sanctuary.
One thing that could be done is to constrict the pvp flag enabled area about a meter in the game area. This would force players to be standing on the sands on the area to attack members of their own faction rather than doing it from the raised ledge.
The other option would be to have a same-faction sanctuary flag as a conditional flag. If the player attacks any character inside the area they loose their faction specific sanctuary flag for say 2 minutes. That way people in the area can hunt and kill then even if they try to make an escape. It would definitely make the area a more dangerous place.
Overall I think Gurubashi adds a great pvp element to the game.

Dire maul arena would also be a good place for FFA pvp, an alternative, probably not quite as easy to do it there, atleast not if you close the little gate that goes to the basement and then place a teleporter there instead, since it can't be used in combat either way
