Server upgrade processor specs

Post by Henhouse »

For those curious what is changing in the server upgrade coming soon, here is the difference in processor we're getting.

Currently we run on a Intel Xeon Processor X3430: http://ark.intel.com/products/42927

Now we're upgrading to an Intel Xeon Processor E3-1270: http://ark.intel.com/products/52276

Key differences:
  • A whole extra Ghz on the clock speed for each core (it's a server quad core)
  • Twice the amount of threads.
While I'm not sure if OregonCore will hinder us from being able to fully use this power, I am hoping we will notice major differences in processing performance. With double the amount of threads I should be able to allot more processing to map systems threads too.

I am sad to inform that we've been relocated to their datacenters in Berlin, Germany I'm afraid. Looks like we'll be leaving the Netherlands again for now.

Stay tuned for when I announce the move maintenance date.
