17/0/44 vs hunter (see details)
Aside from a double shatter crit, fb and instant casts etc when a huntard has his epeen set on some other clothy from behind 200 fuckin yards away well that's cherry but your focusing the efc and you are the target this time and heals is sweetly injecting hots on the fc and you get none and your barrier is down all cooldowns and you go for icy veins, well there's arcane shot then kk you got pwnd macro as you die, or sheep pet etc, sheep hunter force trinket sheep again bandage a suffer like a tourrete with push backs either way any clean cut suggestions or input? Its not that QQ just my only rival class I usually see them first however not always
Re: 17/0/44 vs hunter (see details)
get in their face while they're slowed with frostbolt and ignore the fact they cant disengage for +20 yards?
seriously idk, blink up to them so they cant shoot you, and use your novas/infinite amount of slows to stay there.
other than that, just do your job as a mage and burst? or cc and run

I loathe the lack of a dead zone for hunters on this server.

Lol, rival class. Just wait for Wrath. #?)&%#)?&I" cunt class.
Your post is kind of a mess, but if I understand you correctly it goes something like this. You're after the EFC, and ofc he's healed by some fucking wood-dwelling super hero. And along comes a Hunter, at range, and since he gets a free nuke he kills you. Am I right? If so, how's that a problem? I know that if I get a free nuke with a bunch of 5-6k shatters, shit will go down. Fast. SWP gear is best (bad fucking joke).
Oh and try to take him down with your 5-6k shatters. And don't forget your pet, block or snap.

That balls to the wall method worked good, its all I needed cd's for and being that they stared at me before releasing a few satisfying seconds my job is finally done and yen I miss the deadzone QQ, anyhow thanks for the replies everyone and skrow well he was my trial and error on on my geared toons as far as testing reactions to cc and cd's if that's your toon much ablige there's hope still yet ill leave this with the ole marine tag I will shoot him before he shoots me! xD

That's the sense I was getting at entirely as far as pet setup for shatter yes, well case closed and thanks
Re: 17/0/44 vs hunter (see details)
I've vsed alot of hunters and i find this method most promising. Be aware this is the basics of a hunter to mage duel, elaboration on vsing other specs will be told later. any who....
Very begining of the duel, be sure to have:
Ice armour
Intel buf
dampen magic
Ice shield
(duel only) mana shield
Next up the positioning of a hunter depics opening spells:
MODERATE TO CLOSE RANGE
First spell you cast is poly. If he uses any form of defensive cds (Feign Death, Silencing shot, Pet stuns, Wyvern sting), wait it out and recast poly.
FAR AWAY:
if he's far away -- aim for a rank 1 FB. a 41 yard spell has a greater chance than your 30 yrd poly...
After that you'll want to blink in and go for a poly. With the slow his chances are that he's less likely to kite out of range.
AFTER POLY
Begin closing the gap and move into dead zone (melee range)... if you shield is up when you are in melee range begin to cast frost bolt, if it's not re apply ice barrier and than begin to cast.
*If trinket used by hunter to get out of poly, recast again.
AFTER BREAKING POLY
This is where things get technical upon mechanics. A key factor in this duel is that you always want the hunter to be on the defensive and you on the offensive (by staying deadzone)
When in dead zone you'll want to utilize spells in this fashion:
Ice lance (frozen) >>> pet freeze >>>cone of cold >>> Fire blast >>> frost nova >>> castable spells.
Save frost nova for any time the hunter moves distant from you, and use blink to close gaps. Re apply shields when down, and cold snap when everything is on cd (nova, shield, ib, water ele).
SPECIFICS WITH SPECS
BM:
BM hunters are the only class where you'll be forced to play defensive. Best tactic here is to poly the BM at first and see if you can kill the pet with nova + pet shatters in a row. This is so the BM doesn't get BW. Once you kill the pet you finish off the hunter.
If the BM trinkets the poly and pops BW, begin damaging the hunter with instants -- only till your shields wear off. After IB and let the hunter wait the nuke out. Chances are, when your IB is finished he is most likely to be lining up a aimed shot... so be sure to exit IB b4 the finishing cast and cast IB and Manashield for the followed up Multi/arc shot.
From there, poly >>> close gaps >>> go for a kill.
