Is anybody interested in Ventrilo?

Post by Henhouse »

Years ago we used to have a Ventrilo for Smolderforge but I have since taken it down since no one really requested it. Is there any reason to bring it back? Would anyone want to use it?

If it costs money then no.I'd prolly use it just to meet new people when I'm bored...but for pvp ...Skype all the way.

I would use it probably occasionally, that being me logging in vent everytime I log on SF, just to see who's on.

Why don't you set up a free Mumble server?

Not so much ventrilo as it is easy bombed etc. maybe a ts3 as their c++ coding makes it near enough impossible to bot spam it. but god yes bring it back ! the hardship of doing bgs with people on Skype and all their Russian microphone background noise going off at the same time is like having a red hot pole shunted in ones rectum.

I can the Ventrilo server myself on Smolderforge's system. Yes, it goes above the 8 limit count too ;).

So looks like we got a lot of options. Mumble, TeamSpeak3 and Ventrilo. I personally have used Ventrilo the most over a long period of time. TS3 only once and it seems really, well, full. Like Ventrilo feels really lightweight compared to TS3. I've never used Mumble at all.

TS3 Interface is really good for admins. alot of tools and free advertising in the corner if u host it for yourself. and as for vent yea its brilliant at what it does. its lightweight simple and user friendly but it Also
has its flaws in the Bombing sector.

The download was ~28mb, I have no idea what the final extraction was. TeamSpeak was like 83mb. Ventrilo is 4.3mb. That's what I mean by lightweight.

Oh i rather spend 50mbs on a program that has less delay(!) and uses less bandwith, but each to his own ; )
