What about opening a 19 twink server?

Talk about anything here, related to Smolderforge or not.

we already one of those...

It worked okay for a little while but.. Yeah. As you can see, it's no longer up.
I mean one similar to the TBC one. Where you can get gear and do BGs and stuff. Besides the pre-TBC server failed because of all the raid bugs for the most part.
Riski and I discussed having just a 60 funserver. In reality, it would be really cool. It would have to be on the 2.4.3 client because 1.12 is beyond broken. 2.4.3 is still decently viable for Pre-TBC stuff too since the talents barely changed we can just disable TBC ones again like we had done before. But the problem is that, there isn't a very big playerbase for Pre-TBC anymore. Especially ones that understand 2.4.3 isn't TOO much different and have an interest in playing. Plus players will eventually request scripted PvE and want a lot of stuff to work again and we'll enter that annoying never-ending loop of trying to provide stuff that isn't working or functional :|.

Q-Gaming back in the day accomplished this though. They used to be 2.4.3 and just made it for the casual player. You could PvP, get your titles, gear, and the raids were really quick PuGs and designed to be downed by PuGs for the casual player who didn't have time to spend 100 hours working on his character, applying to a guild, demanded being there specific raid nights, etc. Pretty nice but I don't think I have the time to try to pursue something like this. Especially with little community left for it :(.

You're making me want to take a C++ class just so I can help with that. The very thought of that sounded pretty awesome Hen.

If we had enough dedicated people to help to the point that Henry really didn't have to do much other than the normal server updates he does (ex. a group of people to script the instances and boss encounters) I don't see a reason Henry wouldn't host the server. I'm getting a degree in computer science with a specification in video games, so in a few years if Smolderforge is still alive and kicking and the idea of a level 60 "funserverish" server is still desired I would be more than willing to work on it. Only time will tell if we ever can make something like this happen, but with our resources of dedicated people who can work C++ for instances and bosses its not possible at the moment.

It's too bad you guys don't have the support to work on it. Smolderforge is the king of fun-servers. :D

I'll be sure to notify you guys if I end up taking a C# or C++ class at my college. Because I would love to help out with that, but I'm currently ignorant to C's language.

Twink servers are very interesting to create and play with, I opened Inception-Emu in 2010 and the Peek of players was always about 100-350 and it always depends on what time through the day people play of course. I noticed that tons of people were flocking to Twink servers back then so I decided to try it in different ways. First, I made the 19 Twink with a different custom idea. When you started you get all of the BiS gear for regular World of Warcraft 19 Twinks and when you would get Honor and Badges (From killing people) which you would trade in for Custom gear that looks like T2 that only has 2 stats added onto it from the original BiS gear. When you would spawn you would be in "Coldarra" and from one side of the map to the other there is an identical area and a great room to make a Mall and a starting area for all of the 19 Twinks. On top of that starting area (Which was separate from Horde and Alliance) there was 2 Siege Engine, 2 Catapults, 2 Glaives. The point would be to fight in the Middle of "Coldarra" and you would battle because it's a free-for-all area. The only problem with having a open area like that with the Alliance and Horde just across the map from each other is I would have to go around ".appear" players just to see if they are farming Badges or Honor with multiple accounts and a auto-clicker which is happen often and the way to tell is to look into their played time and see there HK's and match them up. After all of the players cheating to get there gear I revamped Inception-Emu and went a different route. I made it so when you made a character the Alliance and Horde were on far separate locations and you started out with average Level 10-19 gear, to earn BiS you had to earn it with Honor. The Horde starting zone with the popular Troll spot that has the faced rocks and a wide area. The Alliance starting zone was in the Shadowfang Keep in the area after the NPC unlocks the door with the key when you kill the first boss... It seemed that many people enjoyed the server, there was fewer bugs then ever but for some reason it was only pulling in a 50-150 peak and I had no clue why. I still have a $500 dedi because my friend owns a company that rents out Dedicated Servers all around the world and I have it for as long as I want it. I am thinking about opening up another Twink server of some sort but I am doing tons of research before I go into the project again so I can perfect it, give me any ideas or information that you feel would benefit me in any way. Thank you ^_^
