Henhouse Please Read(WOTLK)
Re: Henhouse Please Read(WOTLK)
Wrath realm means insta quit retail for me and joining Smolderforge yet again if it ever goes live.I wonder if they still have the character database or was it fucked ?

Re: Henhouse Please Read(WOTLK)
Unfortunately the entire SQL system sort of had a meltdown which is why we had to close it. None of the data was retrievable. I'm still not entirely sure what caused the problem as it should never happen anyway. Must have been due to prior massive data transporting on the SQL... No idea really. Then again, we were running on 2009 distributions of Linux. Updated our systems since then.
An idea (or British-- idear) I had was a peculiar one. A lot of work would have to go into this but I was curious---what if we, when we opened the server, took characters from Smolderforge with, say, 2-5+ days played time and converted the to Wrath characters. Flagged upon first login to purge talents, spells, etc. to prevent problems and bumped you up to level 80. An interesting idea as it would allow you to maintain a copy of a character, keep the same achievements (for example Firstaidkit with 100k HKs) and possibly a motivation to play.
Was just a though. I honestly haven't begun to think how entirely possible it would be. I'd need to do a lot of testing.
The benefits of restarting the realm is 100% breaking away from the old predecessor Pineapple-WoW relations and characters, but more importantly--being able to integrate it finally with Smolderforge's accounts. See, when we acquired Pineapple-WoW we were unable to merge the account databases for obvious reasons since it already existed so we had to keep them separate. This will allow us to maintain them under one centralized branch. So is the idea.

As long as you can't fish up the characters from the old wrath-server I don't really see the point in putting down any effort on "migrating" our characters from 2.3.4. The only thing would in that case be mounts and vanity items.
On another note, and I'm gonna continue to be persistent on this one. How will you handle gear? :D

Maybe next year you could make it possible Henhousy,my favourite american of all time.Until then I will stop queueing sites like hardsextube.com/hentai/japanese and will just come look at this post if I need to fap.Henhouse wrote:Unfortunately the entire SQL system sort of had a meltdown which is why we had to close it. Let's not quote this...Firstaidkit wrote:You don't, others do.Cube wrote:I don't really see the point in putting down any effort on "migrating" our characters from 2.3.4.
But you're right, I don't. However, I didn't make an objective statement, it was a subjective statement. But let's quote more obvious and unnecessary shit. Fucking dumbass.Cube wrote:... The only thing would in that case be mounts and vanity items.
However, on the subject. The reason I don't find it appealing is that on Cube I have a bit over 10k hk's here on Smolder. But I didn't kill a single one of those in Wrath. And I guess we're talking 3.3.5a and the gap between that and 2.4.3 which we're currently playing on is 2 years (yes, 24 months). And on top of being in a new expansion with major changes made it's 15 patches into said expansion, 4 of those are major content patches (new seasons, raids, major class changes etc). So bringing everything from the TBC characters over to the WotLK realm would mean that loads of players would have shit that they never deserved (on Smolders Wrath server that is). They would have, for example arena titles and mounts in a game that is far from what Smolder is now. Some of the players are probably good enough to get to the top no matter what expansion we're talking about, so they'll do the same in Wrath and "get it all back". But sure, hk's doesn't bring anything to the table other than a cool title. So would you then let hk's and vanity items get transferred, while not transferring arena titles/mounts/whatever? From where I'm standing it's pretty much black or white. If you transfer you should transfer everything, if you don't well... then you don't.
Another thing worth considering is all the people who played on the previous Wrath server here, and their accomplishments. Take Bob, he played here on the Wrath server and had a great time. He got some titles, got a few achievement mounts, and maybe even decent arena rating to get some nice gear. The server sadly died, and everything was lost, so he tried the TBC server which wasn't really his thing. But now a new (read: new) Wrath server is opening up again here, and Bob tries to be patient waiting for it to go live. He logs on to see all the TBC players running around with loads of shit that he had on his character, but that they didn't lift a finger for (in Wrath). And all he has is what you're allowed to start fresh with.
In the end it doesn't make that much of a difference anyway, but you'll have to consider it from all perspectives. Personally I don't give a damn. I donate and despise farming in all of its forms. And partially it was the same thing back in retail, but that's a whole different story since this isn't a "Blizzlike" server. One thing I don't understand is how this could possibly lead to people getting more motivation to play. Sure, a select few might, but most players continue to play because they have goals that they want to achieve. And you're talking about transferring some (at least partially) of these goals over. Might work in the short run, but in the long run it doesn't make sense. Especially since we get 75% of everything in the game for free as soon as we make a new character.
Personally I would love to see a realm started from scratch. But whatever you decide on, I'll probably play it anyway.
Edit: Just read through my post and noticed that I came off as a negative ass. Wasn't really my intention (except the first part), only wanted to express more than one perspective.

Re: Henhouse Please Read(WOTLK)
Another thing I thought about some time ago. People seem to enjoy the old rank titles, it's a pretty cool feature. However, it's a bit sad to see everyone and their mom running around with high rank titles. On top of this it diminishes their worth (even though it's only hk's). And I understand that this wouldn't be a good idea for the TBC realm (in the same sense that a gear wipe is a bad idea) but now (if) you're starting up a new realm maybe the requirements for the ranks could be upped a bit? The "of the Alliance/Horde" title has a 100k req iirc. So putting Grand Marshal/High Warlord at, say 75k and then fit the rest of the ranks in there somewhere (starting low ofc, first rank at 100 or so?)

Re: Henhouse Please Read(WOTLK)
Most definitely. Raising them on TBC is something we're discussing quite often too. When it was designed no one had 15k. Hell 1 person had 10k. The influx of HK farming in BGs soared after the titles were implemented.Cube wrote:Another thing I thought about some time ago. People seem to enjoy the old rank titles, it's a pretty cool feature. If Darkgroom ever has the time, I want to see if he can design a similar system to the way titles functioned in Pre-TBC. Where there can only be so many ranks and people bump each other out, etc.
Funny story, I actually dislike most Americans that play WoW(private servers). It must be a certain sterotype since EU seems to play a lot of computer games, and the US more so Xbox/PS3. We see to get a lot of retard scumbag Americans that play on private servers. They tend to annoy me... Hence the reason our GM staff has had its first American GM in years, lol. I want to move to the UK. According to this I got about 76% right on a psuedo citizenship exam.

Re: Henhouse Please Read(WOTLK)
I will start playing on Wrath server even though I am a bit of the ICC (hated all changes with the gear and stats, the ICC was also only for casuals)
I will make Rarecandy but I do not think you should transfer chars it will only destroy the server and all meaning (to take examples FaK will get everything even if I love him, I am against it).
The titles on the TBC server has no meaning anymore. I wished to see an increase in HWL to 30k or more just to get it more rare. Then on Wrath server, I hope it will get better :p
Then how will it be with donations there? because I know myself that I 2hit everything with endgame gear at 80. (Destro OP! yes affliction and meta is to!)
Of course, I will not do so now when everyone has the same conditions, but it feels like the gear will have more effect on Wrath server.
