Item Enchant Bug

Post by Netharius »

1. This problem exists on the WotLK server.

2. None of my titan-forged or wrathful gladiator items will accept enchants. A GM was able to enchant some of the items in his inventory and pass them to me, but I am unable to perform any of the enchants myself, even enchants from my inscription profession. I have tried deleting my cache, interface and WTF folders.

3. I suppose it is a database issue, since it is related to an item, based on the description listed on the bug report form.

4. I can reproduce it by attempting to enchant any titan-forged or wrathful gladiator item.

5 & 6. When I attempt to enchant these items, I receive a message stating, "That item is not a valid target."

Thanks for your help. Please let me know if you need any additional information.

If the GM was able to, I'm curious if this is a client-side issue on your end. Did you try clearing your WoW cache?

Sorry but this is most likely an issue on your end still.
Did you download wow from a torrent?
Have you messed around with it? Reinstalling your wow would be required. (or atleast readding correct mpq files)
What localization do you have?
It might be something unsupported on our end.

If anyone (even a GM) can get passed one of those errors, it will mean that this is not a db bug, rather a core bug. We dont have any code saying that only gmlevel x should be able to enchant something tho.

I was told by two GM's to report it as a bug, so I did. If it matters, the icon for these items appears correctly on my character sheet, yet they show up as question marks in my bags for some reason.

I downloaded WotLK from Blizzard at it's release. I have not reinstalled it. The only messing around I did was deleting the cache, interface and WTF files. When I started playing private servers, I backed up my WoW folder. I have tried using the backup files but it made no difference. I have been able to enchant wrathful gladiator items on another private server.

I was reporting that this issue happens to me. I see many other players with these items enchanted. The last GM I spoke to told me he had dealt with one other person who had the same problem.

I am not really computer saavy, so I apologize, I do not know what kind of localization I have.

Okey thanks.

Well the reason it wont work is because your WoW client doesn't have the full data about theese items.
(Same issue as with custom items on trinitycore)
This is most likely your problem here, did you ever enchant theese items on retail?

Anyways, this is an issue in your data files (.mpq files). A wow reinstallation will be neccessary.
I'm quite sure this would fix the issue.
Question is if you really need the enchants so bad that you want to spend the time to reinstall your whole WoW for a few hours.

I understand. I will have to do some soul-searching to decide if I will dedicate the time to re-installing.

Thanks for your help. If I do the re-install, I will post the results.

Going to close this as well, for people with enchant problems, typically 9 times out of 10 deleting your WoW cache folder solves the problem.
