Community Discussion: Maximum HKs
I sat down and had a long discussion with a few of the GMs today. We discussed how one year ago SF was peaking 400/410 players around June and the server quality was at a peak. Not much has changed since then in terms of our server design, only the players and community have.
We began to discuss what the source of the problem could be and for a while we narrowed it down to the title system. The title system ruined so much for the server as it created a HK farm war. However, the farm war didn't stop after titles, it continues as a never-ending competition.
After a lot of discussion we came to realize having a cap on the amount of Honorable Kills you can obtain, say, 20k would be reasonable. Once you reach the max title, you're finished. Unfortunately, this takes a lot of value out of the game, and "status." Looking at the problems we face now, I'm not sure what other ways we can take to try stopping this problem we're facing today.
What are your thoughts?

I HIGHLY doubt capping the HKs will resolve any problem whatsoever.It can and probably will backfire.
With this small of a player pool....you just can not control it Hen.Player X will have a 60%+ chance of encountering the same premade that farmed his ass the last bg with the outcome of the current bg being the same.I've had my share of retarded-streak losses even on retail...but the fact that I had the chance to team up with new random peeps every queue(which was always the case)meant I could win some and forget about the losses...and move on and have fun.This is not possible on SF.
Digging my own grave:
I find the cheap donations another factor.What do you expect a "wealthy" freshly donor player to do other than farm hks and rape kids 24/7?He doesn't have to care about winning a bg(no retarded hk farms) to gain new gear or do arenas ....just mindless mid-wsg slaugther(Gy).
All things considered,I strongly dislike the idea of implementing a HK cap.Other options are available.Maybe try and balance/switch things around the A:H ratio(maybe make some uber H peeps join A )etc.

Tbh I said that as a joke.
Anyways I will quit if you will take away my HK's I have invested a lot of time into my character it would be totally unfair if you take that away from me..
The least thing you can do is to keep everyone above 20k freezed at this so that we can keep the HK's and you can set the maximum on 20k if your really plan on doing that.

I'm not sure if a handful of people are responsible for player starvation though, it's not that those people are taken serious for what they do, unless there are some more people now who think it's a great time investment to increase some digits.
They just speed that starvation up (and that's more of an elitist issue, not solely related to HKs).
Quite the idea to bring that theory up, but TBC is kinda old now these days... regardless how WoW evolves, the gap is pretty large now, and I'm sure that a lot of people who waste their time on retail servers just got used to it.
The second they'd set foot on a TBC server they'd complain how tedious everything is in 2.4.3, if they even remembered those times (or experienced them), totally different games nowadays.
Long story short, interested players are limited, I think most joined as they had a great time with TBC, probably with a focus on PvP, maybe the release of the new addon will bring in new players, I don't know.
Some other server choices might help aswell (-> WotLK), to lure in the occasional player. But well... capping HKs will probably do more harm than any good, last thing you want is losing players who bound their soul to their characters. ;]
Attracting Russians might increase population aswell, they tend to come in groups... large groups. Although they don't blot out the sun like Iranian's do, they'd hack the system clock to only have night time to begin with.

Henhouse. Cap the HKs or remove the title system. Honor has a cap, this has become such a blown up subject capping the HKs temporarily wont damage anyone. Except FAK. But seriously, he doesn't really help the server, but I can't say he hurts it either. One less player is likely to be replaced.
