Deleting character doesn't free up the name.

Post by Trance »

Hello. I'm wondering why deleted characters still show up on the armory and why the names are still unavailable for use. I'm guessing it has something to do with the character restoration feature and it's kind of driving me crazy at the moment. Not being able to create a character with the desired name due to the deleted one being held hostage in the restoration menu. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

1. Deleted character names will no longer be freed-up on deletion. This is to avoid problems arising from name stealing, unlimited character renames, duplicate names, etc. Once they are fully deleted after 180 days, the name will be freed.
2. Deleted characters will still be visible in the armory -- just de-linked from the player's account. (will only affect newly-deleted characters)
This is indeed the case.

Not for 180 days, I'm afraid. Should I *suppose* we could let people use a rename token ... but the reason I built the restoration system was specifically to elevate the need for GMs/me to have to keep assisting people with it, so I probably shouldn't... else it completely goes against the reason I built it.
