/clapHenhouse wrote:The way I look at it is this: we've been around for 5 years, and we're a funserver. You may argue it's better to involve more grinding, more working, more progression (which has been increased by 500%+ in the last few years), but the fact of the matter is this is not a blizzlike server, nor should be one. Smolderforge is what it is, and you have to accept that. Arguments to make players go out in the world and farm progressions is no more of a suggestion than having people level their characters to 70. Things have been this way, and changing them would alter the server in general.
Are we supposed to never offer sunwell? We have many times in the past, and one time we wiped the shoulders and weapons and started anew, reserved the sunwell for ~1.5-2 years and made it become rare and exclusive again.
The Burning Crusade 2.4.3 ended in October 2008. That means no more new content, raids, tiers, or arena seasons will ever arrive. I do these things to continue keeping Smolderforge fresh, in the best way I can, and believe me --- 5 years of this should not be fresh anymore, but somehow, we make it fresh again. Who knows what we'll change in the future, but so many things are custom from the get-go. Just because not everyone had full S4 and/or SWP on retail doesn't make transmog, professions, teleporting NPC, resetting cooldowns, potions/soul shards/food that stack 250, pet mall, auto-learning spells/talents ANY less custom. They're all a part of the server and whether you like or disagree with one or not is your opinion, but that's the way things are, and have been in the past. If we've made it this far now I would like to think we've done some things right.

Re: SC loot table
Maybe it wouldnt be a bad idea to do it again. Specially the introduction of a raid where one can farm PVE gear that was intended for PVE in the first place was a great opportunity, "SF Birthday, now your swp shit is gone" sounds intruding enough.Henhouse wrote:Are we supposed to never offer sunwell? Thats beyond any question of course but there are always ways to improve things.Henhouse wrote:I would like to think we've done some things right.
The mentioned custom stuff integrates in the blizz mechanic pretty well and given the arena server, nothing of it would really stand out besides crafting and surprisingly this is the most retarded thing of it, which of course can be balanced out with the fun factor. Same goes for swp.
Besides, where is the logic that SWP gear, flacks and similar stuff is available but glaives, (that only can surpass HoD dpswise because sword > fist) arent.
As for Fak, getting mad and being called new and then using it as excuse for not knowing things in the next paragraph, well done sir, well done.

What the fuck? I support having SWP gear on the server, it's a funserver. The same way I supported having all gear available on Wrath server.Firstaidkit wrote:I just find it funny how only you, Deems, Imperium and Cube dislike the SWP gear
edit: oh and if you wipe sunwell items like last time, do not wipe weapons and shoulders. FUCK the shoulders, they're useless. Weapons and LEGS are the most used items by far.
Lol yeah, paladins had like 1k extra mana because rets ran oom too fast, and druids had ~200 less base mana. :DImperium wrote: remember when Paladin's mana pool was custom buffed because they wouldn't scale as they should?
pretty sure hunter mana was also modified for the same reason.
shamans may have had an increased stat, though I forget which one.

I am testing out a new mechanic on my test-realm that could enable us to both have Sunwell gear and also not have pvp completely imbalanced at the same time.
It wouldn't be 'retail like' obviously, but it may be able to alleviate some concerns that have been expressed in this thread. Anyway I will make a thread about it an people can discuss it more extensively. Therefore I am letting you all know that we are taking concerns about pvp seriously.

Going to post a detailed exclamation of it tomorrow. And I stress it is only one of (my)proposed solutions for the bg/world pvp problem.

Re: SC loot table
1st of all, after reading the previous posts it seems that the problem isn't in the swp gear itself, the problem is in that broad masses might get it from the new SC raid. To me that sounds like jerkis elitism, and load of bullcrap. Considering that ppl on this server have the problem clearing Mgt without a whipe, that sound ridiculous. Some might get the powerful rewards, most will not.Exsurgo wrote:I am testing out a new mechanic on my test-realm that could enable us to both have Sunwell gear and also not have pvp completely imbalanced at the same time.

2nd On last wow, everyone rolls Swp gear, warglaives etc. You name it , they have it. Did it kill the game on the server ? It did not , it has x5/10 poppulation of this server.
3rd if the recipes are a problem remove them.
4th The game on this server will never be like on the retail / x1 server . . Crogges wow was, and where is that server now ?This server has it's own charm just the way it is. You can't expect to play here for years, and that everything looks new and fresh, every time you log on. The game was far more entertaining for me when I started to play here back in 2011. But non the less, I never dreamed I would get 2 years of fun from a server with a mall and 3 battlegrounds. :D
5th as for Henhouse, the man is just trying to keep his enterprise up and running. Reinventing the server from time to time is good,it gets the server new players, and draws back the old. Also, we now get far more Gm attention than we did back in 2011. There was litterally no sight of GM-s back then. . Which leads me to my next point :
@ Exsurgo: The posts on this thread/forums do not reflect the will of the playerbase. It never did. There are few loudmouths that take the spotlight, making you feel they are important, but you never see them online. More important, when I saw you become GM/dev I thought that would be the end of bugs, at least the game breaking ones. Some are fixed, but as goes for me most aren't. My class, and others are still broken as hell, but it seems no one cares about that. This sSWP balance thing seems trivial to me opposed to other problem this server has... Cya !

Re: SC loot table
yM have done 3 runs and got 3x3x2 patterns.. and i bet EC have just as many or more patterns.
Pugs that fail will still RNG patterns from trash, I was watching Phantics stream when they just come to 2nd boss but they got 2 patterns..
Even if the drop rate is low we will probably see tons of patterns out there really soon like warrior chest, sunfire robe and whatever. The 2nd boss is a pug killer now and will hopefully be for a while but they will still get patterns and if some raid will get the idea to reset farm it will just be.. yeah if that's even possible now, anyway 1-day reset isn't so bad for it.

TLDR: Patterns are to easy to get. They should be removed from SC (If not move them to the chest?)

Not that we tend to farm patterns even if many of us only need patterns and maybe some alt gear from the loot-chest (we will still get patterns from a clear). But lets say we are trying to do 1 run everyday now and it would be cool with an alt run maybe with EC members or/and friends. Its not easy to sell patterns here so they will maybe circulate around us at the start but someday it will just be to easy and everyone can have what they want, even "pugs/starters".Wacco wrote:I love everything about this except "Trash mobs as last time will probably have Rae chances to drop the recipes/patterns for the SWP stuff as well" but don't get me wrong, this could work.
But i know myself and everyone of us in you MONSTER and probably a lot more guilds/party's will play this and it will just end up in trash farming. If we gonna break it down easy every cloth user want the sunfire robe and can now get it without a transfer, many warriors want the BS chest and neck, some rogues want the neck and the leather chest. The JC neck is really good to and i wouldn't mind to collect it myself.
Its true that i don't know anything about this instance and the trash is maybe hard but that wouldn't make it harder to farm it. If for example yM/United/GOD should do a big group we can either farm trash for patterns that everyone wants or just trying to clear the instance, if many of us are donors we will maybe think that it is more worth to farm trash (after we have downed the last boss that is.)

Henhouse should really get rid of his new instance just because 3 players don't like it. That's a great idea.
@Exsurgo: If your going to customize PvP for 3 people then I'm PvE from now on.
