You seem to misinterpret the word donation. You didn't pay for any services, you helped to keep the server up.
There wasn't a product to begin with, you pretty much just got rewarded for your generosity...
Even if you could compare timestamps, it's a guideline to prevent useless work. Funny how you think that it's professional to not stick to policies.

Speaking of contradicting, I could have sworn you complained about Blizzard earlier.
But it's alright, you're totally right and stuff, may I suggest you run your own server with blackjack and hookers? Now there's a robot for ya!

I did indeed mention Blizzard earlier, they have their ups and downs.

Sometimes you get a lucky GM and he's a nice guy and acts human and perhaps helps you out with something slightly outside of their guidelines and sometimes you get this robotic guy who is strict and acts inhuman. The thing is to know when you should stretch the guidelines and when you shouldn't.

And yes ofcourse it's a donation but you'd be stupid to think that people use the "donation" function to be nice to the server when in reality 90% of the ppl that donates do it for the gear, I'm sure the people that own the server knows this aswell, it's just that it's named donation and not auction house, it could say "5$ for full access to s4 gear etc and then the money goes to improving the server" or it could say "Donate 5$ and get access to s4 gear". In reality it's the same thing, just different wording.

Funny how you think it's useless work to take care of your customers.

We're just going in circles here, might aswell close the thread. Thanks for your time Henhouse.

Minoema wrote: Let's say I have a namechange service and I get a customer. He buys a namechange and proceeds to use it. He enters his desired name (lets say Legolas in this case) but it's already taken, a little box comes up saying "The name Legolas is already taken, Legolasxx is available, would you like that name instead? He mistakes the box for a "Are you sure you want to namechange" and just blindly presses yes, not thinking about it. When he gets in-game he notices what he has done and IMMEDIATELY makes a ticket explaining his problem and asks for a refund. He then proceeds to play his character until he gets an answer. He finally gets an answer from a GM and it says "Sorry but you already used your character with this new name, we can't change it. It is too easy to abuse this by changing your name and then regretting it a day later or so and then asking for a refund, thus we cannot help you!"

In this case, by looking at the timestamps that are in your logs (I am 99% sure of this, correct me if I am wrong) you can CLEARLY see that he made the ticket before he did ANYTHING else with this new product of his, clearly indicating that he did not intend to have this name. Isn't it correct to give him a refund then?
This would be a lot different. A simple name is involved, a name is something every player has. Donorship is having the access to hundreds of epics, the ability to start farming HKs, getting good rating in arena if you're skilled, etc, etc. Things that alter your character, and the characters of others playing. When you get a donorship transfer I have to check each character, validate as a donor, communicate with the person to tell me the character name they're transferring to (you'd be amazed how many thing I can simply read their minds and know) and check if the character was deleted -- did they want a certain mount/badges/marks of honor/professions/reputation transferred too? Well that's another story. It's just the transfers take a while, even if they are simple and that's why we've charged for them.

In regards to the timestamps, actually nothing about you buying gear is ever logged. I'm certain it is for Blizzard but that's never been the case with private servers. That's a _LOT_ of unneeded data. If our chat logs get to ~4GB within like a month, I cannot imagine just how bad the vendor logs would be, if we had them that is. Not saying I doubt you made the ticket then, merely saying we don't have that.

This pretty much explains everything then, would've been easier if you said that from the beginning :P!

Thanks.

I've revised the donorship email (and a bit of the others) to the following:
Greetings Firstname Lastname ([email protected]),

This automated email means your Paypal donation was a success and you are ready to get teleported to the donor mall! Below is your code, simply type this code into the code-box when the donor NPC asks you for your code. We recommend manually typing the code over copying and pasting, as it is known to cause problems.

TRANSACTION ID CODE: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Please note, claiming a donor character is IRREVERSIBLE. Please always double-check the race and class of the character you are claiming donorship on before entering the code! In the event of you accidentally claiming on the wrong class, logout of the character immediately and petition us. Any character that has been geared/played after accidentally claiming donorship will not be refunded as it will be considered used.

If you leave the mall, you can always return via teleport from the teleport master, or by setting your hearth! Enjoy playing, and if you have any questions, feel free to contact us!

Regards,
Smolderforge Realm

So for help petitioning to help make a change here at Smolderforge for the better in this manner, and not absolutely flipping out (which is rare) about our debates, I'd be more than happy to grant you a free transfer for this matter. Simply pop an email to GM @ Smolderforge.com with the character name you claimed it on to be deleted and code you previously used and I'll reactivate it.
