Do you lag in retail? Trust me this will fix it

Post by Skriot »

Ok so everytime i logged onto retail i would get insane lag. not even funny i couldnt move in dalarn and 90% time i would DC... So i did some research on how to stop the lag and tbf this actually worked. I can walk into dalarn now without lagging at all its amazing

So heres what to do

1. Open wow and turn of Verticle Sync in graphics options
2. Then type this

Code: Select all

/console MaxFPS 400
3. Exit wow and open notepad
4. Enter this into notepad

Code: Select all

@echo off
cd /d "patch to folder"
start /high wow.exe
5. Now save this file into wows folder as blablabla.bat or something as long as its .bat :):)
6. when you start wow double click this instead of wow.exe and it will make your game run faster!

Do you mean the REAL lag or just low FPS?

For me to explain the lines of the batch file I will since I know them as well.

MaxFPS referrs to how many FPS you can get, 400 is actually so many that the human eye cannot even keep up. While it's good, your video card is working over-time. I would say no more than /console MaxFPS 80

Now the batch file is actually something simple, @echo means to display, by telling it to echo off it means to display no results or the command prompt would open every time you ran it.

start /high means to start the process on high power/memory usage, MaNGOS does the same thing. When the server boots up it's a configuration to make MaNGOS make itself a high process. This can also be done in the Task Manager by right clicking on the process and changing the speed.

Just thought I would explain :P

Windows Users:

This has been confirmed but I've never tested it. If you open Windows Media Player before you start WoW. It will some how boost your Video processing. Just leave it open, don't have it play music or anything and let me know if that'll boost it.

Didn't really notice much of a huge difference.

Windows Media Player does the opposite. It eats all your CPU. Atleast in Vista.
