Race Change

Post by Blue »

Well, I'm not sure if this has been purposed already or not, but I'm going to purpose it anyways.

Hen, what about creating an NPC that would allow you to change your race for a special token, just like the transmogs for example, i have seen it on other servers... and people can buy the tokens for like 50-100 vote points, and for donors, you can make the "unlimited race change if you like, costing about 8 $... not sure if people will support this or not, but it seems like a pretty nice idea.... not sure about the pro's and con's tho... just a ruff idea that flew into my head.

The reason I have not done this, or created an internal tool to do this is because it's very difficult to do with 2.4.3. In Wrath Blizzard created an in-client ability to do this. The client supported it, TrinityCore just had to program it, redesign the way spells are set to a character, their racial abilities, racial stats, etc., etc. We do not have that in 2.4.3. Our technology is the old kind that puts spells on no matter what race/class you are which would could result in a Blood Elf priest having Will of the Forsaken if transferred from an Undead, for example.

Essentially to accomplish this, I would have to spent tremendous hours making sure every possible outcome, or spell that shouldn't be transferred isn't, and every spell, item that should be transferred, is. It would be an extreme amount of work. On top of that, the client doesn't support race/faction changing like 3.3.5 was able to do. Therefore you have to have some weird way to do it (take NextGen for example), deleting your character, remaking with the same name to magically cause it to load all that data onto that "new" character. It's very weird, confusing and problematic. In fact, they had to take theirs down for a while because of problems it was causing.

Is it possible? Yes, but the amount of work it would take, and possible problems that could arise this is exactly why I do it manually -- to prevent these possible problems.

Thnx for the detailed response, i just thought if you do this, it would create less work for you, so you wouldn't have to do it manually, and make it a bit fair for those that don't have credit cards and paypal

Another thing you could add is the Illusion spells, but lets say make them a 24 hour debuff or a buff that can't be removed. They can cost a few (obviously not a few) badges, lots of players will lke them.
Spell ids:

Code: Select all

37807
37809
37808
