A new 'transfer' idea

Post by Ist »

Considering your 'character transfer' problems I would like to give you the idea of creating 'automatic-transfer'. I saw it on other tbc server (I won't advertise it in public, but I can show it to you personally.). I know, you would say 'it's not possible at TBC core, but I response: Yes it is. Also on the server mentioned above, it 'costs' 5k gold. You could create something like this: You 'donate' real money (cause as far as I know, transfer costs real money) for an item (let it be 'Mark of Transfer' or 'Medal of transfer') and then you can automatically exchange it on website for a char transfer.

If you are interested, I can skype with you and show you how it works.

PS. Don't blame me, I just want to help you guys.

Cheers, Wendell.

EDIT: Sorry, I just realized I've chosen the section wrong. It should have been posted in 'Suggestions'. My mistake, sorry.

I'm very well aware this is possible to do. When I refer to it being "not possible" I am referring to the in-game feature that is that which you find in Wrath not being possible, that was of another game version. No, it is not possible to simply change the race id either. Not until the datablob has fully been extracted and a tremendous amount of code written to replace racials and default stats.

I'm aware I could slave away for a while making a PHP script that does this, but the problem is our donorship transfers are always different. Sometimes it's donorship, sometimes it's Tier 6, sometimes it's donorship + HKs + professions + certain recipes + mount, etc. So in the end it's easier to simply do manual transfers, that way nothing goes wrong and we can quality check and transfer each player.

but on that server it works like that:
1. You have 70lvl Undead Mage, Enchanting + Jewelcrafting / full s4 / whatever
2. You are creating 1lvl Gnome Mage
3. You are using home-page system to transfer your char, by giving there your account datas and both chars names
4. You are happy 70lvl gnome mage, enchanting + jewelcrafing / full s4 / whatever

Everything works on a script. I guess so, cause I am not very familiar to it.

Their script probably just copy the current Items, Spells (Not racials), action bars, Stats and other data to the level 1.

The script is transfering the whole character, yes.
If you are transfering HKs only, or just item/set (f.e. s4/tier6) you can still do it manually.

But if someone wants to change faction and race, it's usefull I guess.

Are you interested in checking how does it work?
