It's Time to Upgrade

Post by Toxikz »

Earlier today i was doing 2v2 and livestreaming with Roned. During the middle of a match i lagged out...I thought the server crashed again (As it does Multiple times a day) But however soon afterwards i found it it was only me and we have gained a loss. I dont know why this is happening, especially when the livestream was still working while i was dc'ing...And my internet connection was perfectly Stable. And i know GM"s ALWAYS SAY ITS NOT US ITS UR PROB UPGRADE UR COMPUTER. Well dont give me that crap like you have before. My computer is more powerful then the server. And my internet connection is the best available and has almost 1/3 the bandwith you guys use for the server connection... And that's just one person.

Also i'd like to add that i havn't ran into this DC Issue on any other servers. So it can't be just me...

I donated on 14 different characters because i enjoy this server...and i like it alot here
However, The Frequent Server Crashes. And Random DC"s are getting worse. And are starting to make this server ALOT less playable

So anyways heres some random Math that ive put together
lets say 1/4 of the people here donate
Average person donates on 1-2 chars, not 14 like me

During Peak times there is over 300 people online at a time so lets say theres about 1000 Doners each with 2 donor char's on average. That means this server has raked in almost 10 Grand...Correct me if im wrong but that's more then enough to buy a server that could hold 5000+ People

1000x5x2=10 000

Please take no offense to this Henhouse. But we need an upgrade NOW, maybe raise donation prices if you guys don't have the cash. Because as more and more people come. The problems will only get worse.

Just my thoughts...

Umm.. the server doesn't crash multiple time's a day.. and the fact that you are the only one that DC'd, why does he have to upgrade the server based on what you think is best?

Rephrase what you said, since you said multiple times a DAY. Yes upgrading would be helpful, but not necessary. Also, maybe they're having the same problem. Maybe they have poor internet service or they live out of the country where the server is located. Multiple variables can be taken into account in this situation. I doubt it's the server since if then, it would be effecting everybody, not just a few people.

Earlier today the server crashed and I didn't lose any points because EVERYBODY GOT DCED. When you got DCed nobody else did. Just you. Therefore it isn't a server issue. It was a problem with your connection.

So fuck off.

You disconnecting has absolutely nothing to do with the server hardware or performance. It is running fine at the moment and is not even close to being overloaded or encountering performance problems. You do not have a better "computer" than our "computer." Ours is not a computer, it is a server -- a real blade that is put into a server rack in a datacenter.

If you're the only player getting d/ced it could be many of things, but it is not the server in general. It could be, you glitched something to cause the core (program called OregonCore) to be unable to handle a certain process and therefore must kick the player, intense attempts at hacking (which I doubt you're doing), connection timeouts, viruses on your computer (highly likely considering you're on Windows), firewall, incorrect port forwarding, or some other nethervoid reason. But the last thing it is going to be is because of the server's hardware, like I said we're running just fine right now.

16GB DDR3 memory
1000GB Hard drive
100MBp/s dedicated

Looks like you beat me in one thing, graphics. Oh darn, could have really used that.

Whether or not our specs are better, that was not the point I'm trying to make. You're trying to blame something that is not related to the problems you're experiencing. It probably doesn't help that you're running 2 WoWs at the same time by the way, there's more chance for problems right there. If it indeed is on our end, it's related to OregonCore or a problem with your character, NOT the server.

Edit:

The server has not d/ced 3 times a day, yesterday we had a few crashes due to our latest updates and problems I fixed, but lately we've been having 2-7 days uptime. Also our crashes, once again are unrelated to your disconnection problems.

That was a trip I took with my family, paid for by my parents' expense, had nothing to do with Smolderforge's money.
