Hey all, so I'm sure by know you're aware we're on Oregon and you're waiting to see Smolderforge start changing. Well, I am working a bit on stuff, a lot has been strictly to the core for now just to keep it stable and such, adding game objects game into the word, etc, etc.


So I spoke with Endania today about the matters in Hyjal. A overly large amount of people are there, and always there instead of queuing for battlegrounds. Now my original thought was just to simply bring back the timer on Hyjal. But how many people are not going to understand that and start "gm y hijal close?" Now granted, I've made Hyjal look like that Night elf is actually channeling a portal and some people with a little bit of brain power can figure that out that he's "stopped" for a while.

Another concern of mine is remember when we moved BG queuing to that farm area? It did pretty good I suppose. Then we segregated Horde & Alliance to their cities for queuing, and allowed separate arena queuing there.

From what I've noticed, it seems a lot of people just would rather quickly to go Hyjal, than queue for a battleground. I'm not really sure how to BEST address this problem. If anyone has any ideas (please no MOVE THE MALL stuff >_>) but I'd like to hear your ideas. Bring queuers back into the mall, timer on Hyjal and see what happens, etc, etc. Thanks.

Ok lets see.
That thing about BG's is a minus in the Smolderforge 70 lvl realm.
There are always horde queuing for BG's but alliance are queuing really seldom.
So here is a thought. The thought is in photogenic way so you can change it so it will fit better.

So what i would try to do.
I would try to convert Hyjal into an area that when a player gets a kill from the opposite faction will be awarded with 1 [mark-of-honor] lets say. Just create a custom item and award this for every kill a player gets.

NOTE: Only the player who gets the kill will be awarded with the token and not the whole party in case he is in one.

So the players can use those tokens to buy some items (up to you what the prices would be).
That will turn hyjal to a massive BG area.
But if you do that its logic that the BG's will be no more.
I dont know how you can make it to fit you.

But,Henhouse,you should really consider this idea about awarding a token for every kill.
It sounds cool.

That wouldn't solve the biggest problem with hyjal, which is the alliance:horde imbalance.
And Waloower, don't write your whole message in colors. That is for GMs / MVPs only.

I don't think there's anything wrong with timers on Hyjal, and just move the BG Q'ers to the Mall / Arena guys place.

We figured it out, and we'll implement this tonight if I get it done all in time:
  • Add 1 hour timer back to Hyjal.
  • The Night elf that channels the portal turns back to normal state and says it will open again in 1 hour.
  • Instead of just saying that like he used to, there will be a new "Take me to the battlegrounds" selection in the gossip text window.
  • Teleports players to their queuing locations, solving the problem of non-English speaking people because, seriously, who isn't temped to push a button like that?

Personally I hate hyjal, there's a lot of LoS issues. I like the idea, it's awesome, but it should be in a different and bigger zone than Hyjal. A good one would be Azshara Crater?

Oh and please consider changing it a bit so it's not possible to just sit next to the spirit protectors and shoot from there, cause that's what it's like all the time.

Another thing would be coming up with something (I RELY ON YOU TO COME UP WITH A PLAN :D) to balance the a/h ratio on the server.

Implementing the battleground solutions for Hyjal now.


About Azshara Crater, before we decided on Hyjal we we're going to use Azshara Crater, but the fact of the matter is, that place is really not a good place for PvP... It's a lot of buildings spawned half way into the texture, WAY too open space in 4 sections of an area, etc, etc.

add the battleground guys in the arena place near the hyjal guy.Atm when ppl wanna que for BGs they port to the BG place, they que and they go back to the arena place witch is stupid.. theres not need of 2 places.Also Avronax's idea, add BG guys in Hyjal.About the disbalance, thats all you can do for now, before more people come.
