Unstable Affliction

Everyone whos playing Affliction warlock knows that this bug is a pain in the ass.
It seems that the dispell damage isn't fully, or at all, benefiting from spell damage or Shadow Mastery (Increases the damage dealt or life drained by your Shadow spells by 2%/4%/6%/8%/10%)

Image
Here we have the tooltip for Unstable Affliction. The average total damage without spell damage or damage boosting talents is 1155. With same rules the average dispell damage is 1733. So one would take and average damage of 578 more for dispelling this spell.

Now lets see the actual damages:
Image
The dmg UA deals as a DoT with 1265 spell damage to zero resilience: 469 per tick
Total damage: 469x6 = 2814

Image
Here we have the dispell damage; 1765, merely 32 more damge with 1265 more spell damage and Shadow Mastery.

This bug is game breaking, especially at arenas. Taking about 1700 is covered with one heal, and the 5 sec silence won't feel very bad with that low damage taken for dispelling Unstable Affliction.

Upload them to imgur.com, maybe we'll be able to see them without a magnifying class then.

This has been reported many times before in previous threads, or at least in one of them.

I remember this talk went around on the server a long time ago, around the time when priests were generally broken and over populated.. Me and Neo respecced suc-sacrifce to counter ally priests for a while. It turned out to be good as hell, except that it lacks the lovely felhunter :(

Would be cool if it gets fixed.

I remember on retail being crit for 4k on my 300 resil hunter when my mend pet dispelled unstable affliction. So it should scale pretty well and hit damn hard.

I didn't bother to search. Mostly due to that it deserves a whole lot more attention than it has at the moment.

Touché. There lies the whole point of it; dispell it and suffer.

EDIT: Exurgo, you might want to concider adding this to your signature ;)

So I am not a shitty lock after all and the damage is really fucked, interesting.

Well, if you'd look it this way: there's a penalty for dispelling the spell, so would it make any sense that dispelling it would cause less damage than the DoT in full? That silence effect is pretty useless (not utterly though!) with that kind of damage as it is now.

UA dispel damage should scale with 180%

That would result with an average dispell damage of 4238. I little sceptical about this...
EDIT: Have you read this from somewhere, and if you have please link it here, and if you haven't... Well, lets just say that it won't convince anyone capable fixing this issue.

The silence is everything but useless even now, though obviously the dispel damage is a joke.

4k damage doesnt sound that unrealistic, given how squishy affi locks are and the effects of resil, it would be around 3k in "real" pvp.
