Hunter trap radius

Post by Exsurgo »

Below are images of the trap trigger radius on smolderforge. From my testing all the trap types seem to share the same radius. The shaman had to take another step closer from his position in the final picture to trigger the freezing trap.

I feel like these trigger distances are too low (i.e that traps should trigger from a larger distance)
Watching some tbc hunter pvp videos (such as jacktrapper) reinforces my opinion that these trigger distances are too low (especially for frost trap that is very difficult to get to go off.

What do other Hunters think? I have been unable to find the exact trigger distance figure from TBC, so I don't know any better ways we can test this.

Edit: Further testing. Players can run right past frost trap and it will not proc. As far as I am concerned this is bugged.

This has been looked into and should now be fixed. The trigger radius will now be x2 of what it was before this update.

Is this update in effect yet? My tests today had the same results.
Note the trap I am testing is frost trap, I think freezing trap always had a slightly smaller trigger radius so the correct target could be more accurately trapped.

Also I think that 2x radius might actually be a little too much (assuming the change is not in effect yet)

Please do not test changes until you've seen them go live in the changelog. That recaps changes that have been implemented during a maintenance.

Occasionally some fixes, if related to the database, can be implemented and reloaded in-game without restarting the server. We'll usually mention in a post then if the changes are live at that time. These changes are not in yet.
