Authenticating Login

Post by zachybro15 »

Friday, October 18th - 2013 ...I am trying to log in but it goes straight to authenticating and stays there. I don't know if everyone is having the same problem or not or what may be going on but any tips/replies appreciated (new to smolderforge)

I have not, I accidentally went to it's properties and clicked 'opens with' and clicked 77zip file manager. Which is what I use to extract files. So I messed that up, because it use to say realmlist.wtf now it's just realmlist. And everytime I try opening it, it'll say error etc etc. But before that, I had been opening it and it asked me what I would like to open with.
Like from the internet or a folder, but I didn't know what to do from there or if it was suppose to do that.
-Thank you for your time and help, I greatly appreciate it - no worries if we cant get the problem solved.

Henhouse I'd greatly appreciate if you could take the time to help me, or anybody. I've multiple times uninstalled and installed the client for this TBC server and I've pasted the set realmlist
connect.smolderforge.com in notepad realmlist folder. Extracted .rar and all that other good stuff. But when I go to the wow folder (NOT launcher so dont say I use it)..I will open/run as admin, and when I get in..I type in my username/password and it says connecting for about 2 seconds then a mini box pops up saying help (left) and okay (right). I have no idea why or what I might be doing wrong but I would really like to play. Please Reply.

You should open the file with Notepad to edit its contents. You can readd the .wtf extension when you Save As.

Flush your DNS and connect to SF via the IP

Open cmd "Windows key + R"
Type ipconfig /release
Type ipconfig /flushdns
Type ipconfig /renew
Edit your realmlist and change it to Set realmlist 87.119.221.5

Hope it works for you as it did for me.

::Edit

Also if you are using windows 7 or windows 8 take ownership of the folder via this command in cmd

takeown /f FILEPATH-OF-WOW-FOLDER

Make sure your firewall has an exception for wow and your Realmlist is not set to "read only"

yes after connecting it says unable to connect. I currently got it to go straight past connecting to authenticating and it sits there.

I readd .wtf to save to realmlist.wtf like you guys are saying but when I do i don't think it is actually saving because I get this message.

! Cannot create C:\Users\Name\Downloads\WoW TBC.rar
Access is denied.

How do I get around this? I feel like I'm so close at this point, it's just not letting me save the set realmlist connect.smolderforge.com to the correct place. Ideas?
