A couple of bugs

Post by Jailbait »

First one, it's impossible to prevent someone from capping a node in AB or taking a flag in EotS as long as they've got some kind of absorb effect on them such as priest's Power Word: Shield. You have to burn through shield first and then damage them to cancel their capping. On retail any kind of instant attack cancels your cap, despite being absorbed by the shield. Abilities which shouldn't prevent capping are dots which don't do instant dmg when applied (like Moonfire does) and channeled AOE (Blizzard, Hurricane etc.).

Second one, Blessing of Freedom doesn't negate Wing Clip's slow effect, you remain slowed despite having freedom.

And finally, this is more of a suggestion rather than a bug report - one of the tips which display during loading screens should be changed to "Battlegrounds are designed for Player versus Player combat, not cuddling. Please don't join if you have no intention of playing.". This is mostly for Alliance since they don't seem to get it.

Another thing, spawned objects such as banners and battle standards need to be disabled until they're sorted out. Last few games I've had retards spawning shitload of battle standards in a spot causing icredible amount of lag and FPS drop.

Mage's pet Water Elemental isn't attackable. It should be.

Pets don't keep their owners in combat while they're attacking someone and they should.

Maybe I should just have people report bugs directly to Oregon, I don't really see why I'm collecting them anymore.

Game tips cannot be changed -- they are client side. So if you wanted to edit yours you'd have to extract them, find a DBC file editor, edit them, .MPQ them, and run a model editing program every time you wanted to see your new tips. Else I'd do that! But on a similar note maybe I should just backport the Autobroadcast system into OregonCore.

The banners are a problem, luckily they go away for players soon but us GMs see them for a longer amount of time. Currently we're simply lacking a feature that needs to be backported called spell areas -- it allows us to assign spells to certain areas ONLY. In this case, that banner should only be allowed to be used in Isle of Quel'Danas.

We're aware of the water elemental's problems right now, we're just currently awaiting the fix to be discovered before we can apply it. It's probably rather small, it's just sometimes these things take time to notice. Like the BG quests -- that was fixed and the problem was actually really small but we never saw the problem.

Not sure if it's the best idea to have people report it on the oregoncore forums.
It's not that you get drown in bug reports, as hardly anyone seems to do it anyway (I've just checked 2 classes so far, I'm pretty sure every class has some issues). People are lazy enough already, telling them to register somewhere else is probably not the best approach, on top of that you'd have to report bugs differently, and it would look odd to just write "smolderforge core" to give hints on the version used.

Don't get me wrong, oregon is nice, and compared to other cores it's a blessing when it comes to class balance, but apparently it's hard enough already to find people who actually report stuff here instead of abusing it. ;]

I'll just keep throwing the stuff I find in here, feel free to ignore the stuff you're aware of etc.

Rocket boots don't make you drop the flag in WSG and they should.

When they were first released they didn't make you drop the flag but this was quickly hotfixed after someone posted a video of parachute + rocketboots jump from the top of the alliance tunnel entrance to horde tunnel entrance. The same jump is not possible to pull off from horde to alliance, i.e. alliance can't do it with horde flag since the roof of horde tunnel entrance is different than the alliance one. Even if they could this would need fixing, flying over entire midfield in 2 seconds was hardly intended.

Plus rocket boots are usable in arena which they shouldn't be on 2.4.3

Perception either isn't working or isn't giving enough stealth detection.

Also, it appears you can't cast spells on a memeber of your faction who's cycloned. I tried timing a heal to land right as cyclone is ending and couldn't even begin casting it until cyclone was over. I just got "You can't do that yet" error. Hostile spells on opposing players works fine, you can cyclone someone and time starfire to land as they're coming out of cyclone for example.

Deadly Throw is proccing Ruthlessness and it shouldn't. This one is kinda important because it allows rogues to spam Deadly Throw as a ranged interrupt (PvP gloves bonus) if they're lucky with Ruthlessness procs.

Ruthlessness was changed in patch 2.3 to no longer affect Deadly Throw.

Recasting Water Shield when you have 1 or 2 charges doesn't refresh the number of charges back to 3, it only refreshes duration of the buff to 10 mins. Lightning Shield works fine.

This macro solves the Water Shield tho so it's not a big deal:

#showtooltip Water Shield
/cancelaura Water Shield
/cast Water Shield
Locked
