On a more serious note. I don't think there are any active serious guilds around except a few "premade" bg guilds (and by premade I mean farming poor randoms at a gy for a good 40min or so because having High Warlord/Grand Marshal like everyone else is kinda cool I guess). I could be wrong since I haven't really played here for a while now. There used to be some raiding guilds around afaik, one of them being <EXTRA CURRICULAR> but they either disbanded or moved on. Every now and then a new guild with great ambitions pops up, but sadly they eventually die because of inactivity. There are a few arena focused guilds as well, but they seem to shift around a lot and my guess would be that they're working more as a chat for a couple of buddies with a cool tag below their names.
I wish you the best of luck though. But if I were you I wouldn't hope for more than a chat room that'll be a nice change from the LFG channel since that's about as serious as it gets around here (except for the bg guilds that is, since that's srs bsns fo sho).
If you want more than this I would guess your best bet would be to start your own guild and try to recruit a good core. But this is easier said than done, especially when it comes to PVE since you pretty much get a load of bis peices for no work at all. The only PVE people you can get a hold of are those that actually enjoy raiding while not getting much of a reward for the work. PVE'ers are probably more attracted to more blizz-like servers since they get the whole package of PVE progression there.
This post may seem a bit cynical, but that's not my intention. Smolderforge is a great "fun server" where you can log on and just play casually. You don't have to grind here and put loads of hours down on evolving your character. The side effect (obviously subjective) is that a lot of the more serious aspect of the game doesn't really get much attention.
As said, best of luck!
