What makes a pvp video, a good one.
What makes a pvp video, a good one.
Curious, i'm working around with after effects, sony vegas, particle effects, model viewer
any who curious, cause NOW I KNOW DISC PRIEST PVP IS TOTALLY FAIL UNLESS IN AREANA, but i'm trying to get around that, any ideas?
i've been thinking of doing a story line, as an excuse to do some group BG's cause disc priests don't really kill things like vurtne, drakedog, neilyo, akrios, noone, megatff, mercador, or any thing on youtube titled "beast cleave".
But yea what makes a pvp video a...decent pvp video, besides skill.

Besides watching skilled PvPers, I like it when PvP movies have good music (nothing overused like Drowning Pool - Bodies), also when the interface is clean, without any unnecessary addons clogging up the screen. And I like it when the editing isn't over-the-top and giving me a seizure at every critical strike.
Good luck with your video, just remember that this is a private server and if you plan on releasing the movie on WCM or whatever it'll get down-rated to oblivion.

false, WCM takes pserver videos pretty well nowadays, even though there's still some trolls who cling on to the fact that it's a pserver video.Xaru wrote:if you plan on releasing the movie on WCM or whatever it'll get down-rated to oblivion.

Oh, I didn't know that. I remember back in 2008 (when I had a subscription to WCM) all the PS videos would get flamed and trolled even if the person was really skilled. I guess that's changed with Wrath and Cata now. Good to hear.Balls wrote:false, WCM takes pserver videos pretty well nowadays, even though there's still some trolls who cling on to the fact that it's a pserver video.Xaru wrote:if you plan on releasing the movie on WCM or whatever it'll get down-rated to oblivion.

Yeah it has changed a bit with few of the "big names" being open to playing private servers, like Lecken.
Also, I guess it has to do with the community maturing up a little and how cata sucks major dick.

Re: What makes a pvp video, a good one.
I got to say that I agree with Xaru.
The music has to fit the play-style of the player, for example; I don't enjoy watching a disc-priest with scream-o or thrash metal, because it doesn't fit ( in my eyes ).
As for the clear UI and stuff, I agree with that too, and I really enjoy good quality ( duh ), max view distance, and full spell details really make shit pop.
And on to the editing, playing a priest myself, I don't give a flying fuck if you manage to SW:D a polymorph or warding a fear as it's not special, you're supposed to do it. However, hi-lightning a death on blind is acceptable. ( cocky much? )
And please, no zooming/flash-effects for crits, we're not living in 2006 vurtne-style.
If you're having troubles getting some decent BG scenes as discipline, you could split up playing some shadow if you're competent playing the spec, and you could do some duels, as long as the players aren't random Russia faggots.

Grammar is important. Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse & helping your uncle jack off a horse.
Re: What makes a pvp video, a good one.
I've actually seen lots of movies in wcm geting downrated just cause its a pserver, for example Alebock's movies.. well they arent perfect but 2/5 is just too low since he's a good priest.
Also most of the wotlk/cata heros are clueless about TBC since the TBC in retail and the TBC now are on different lvls.

Re: What makes a pvp video, a good one.
Yeah, that's how it used to be. They still do downrate them, but not as much. The whole community has been much more welcoming towards pserver heroes, as private servers have evolved to the level where they're not just "lolpserver" or a taboo, if you please, anymore.

Re: What makes a pvp video, a good one.
Personally I think something that contains a story line or theme through out the video is the best. There was that one with the fire mage who had the whole comic style:

I found those the most entertaining of all.
