Do any oldies still creep around sf forums?

Post by Hardlight »

If so!

1. Hows life?
2. What did you used to main?
3. What games are you playing these days?
4. ..And Whats something you missed on the server?

For me? Lifes great, 3rd year bio med, been playing league lately with a bit of team fortress 2. I was most commonly known as Mimic my frost mage, but I actually used to play as Diligent the hunter & Valiant the warrior in SF beta! The best thing I liked about this server was the community (back then). Used to have a combination of guilds such as PVE, PVP, and aswell training guilds where people of higher ranks would teach new comers. Things changed, but I'm glad to see players still trying to make guilds and grow.

Well thats me! Wouldn't mind hearing from any of you's though!

Worth a shot.

1. Hows life?
Busy but good.
By busy i mean studies. Because i'm studyin an "Alround audio/visual technics" education.
In short this means i'm studyin for music/video/movie productions.
I'm currently in my 2nd year and somehow managed speed up my education from 3 to 2 years.

2. What did you used to main?
Applez

3. What games are you playing these days?
Mainly Counter-strike: Global offensive and some Heroes of the storm
I've always liked cs but cs:go really pulled me into the scene
And HOTS is something of a...hmm a fast paced moba ? I guess thats the best way to decribe it.

4. ..And Whats something you missed on the server?
The social aspect. The people that i have managed to bond with always meant something me even if it was little.
Whether it was watching the elections with Henhouse and cheering for Ron Paul.
Or when it was playing on the Xbox with Outskilled
With every person i had fun in a different kind of way and i think most of them know that.

Sadly you dont see this on sf anymore.
Which just made me annoyed and thats also 1 of the reasons why i left.

Looking forward to the othher peiple that will post on this thread.

1. Prettygood, managing my own guild on various private servers. The PvE is strong.
2. FOTM jk rog.
3. Vanillawowwowowowow quit WoD three weeks ago when my guild killed Blackhand.
-----------
Holyshit you actually have some potential in life? Bio med? Damn, I should get started with that bachelor of mine. Id have to agree mate, the community was strong back then before it got influenced by the "outside."

Greetings,

1- Life's great, thought it would be harder to adapt to the monotonous life after Erasmus, however finishing the bachelor, going to the gym daily and having an healthy lifestyle and being a "house wife" has kept me busy enough, still looking to enrol in an intership which will unable me from sitting on the pc.

2- My main is Otaku, however i've played mostly horde in the last years, in over 60 characters, sooooo :D

3- Currently I'm playing Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone, basicly one if I feel like playing something challenging and the other if I wanna lay back and relax.

4- Simply put, I miss the "old SF".
Lets use a Gym metaphor, so there are this guys that workout when its cold, when its hot, when it snows when it rains, when everyone else is in the beach, the ones that workout even if the shower got broken hot water, etc
And then there are the guys that talk, but ohhh man, do they talk. Specially with the owner of the gym, so they walk in, talk, make plans of how the machines, dumbells and barbells should switch place, remove some, add others, etc
Over a few months everything changes, the gym is totally different, the guys that used to be dedicated to the gym, switched from gym and the ones that talk, still talk but they are rarely seen touching a weight.

What I miss is how things were, when everyone was dedicated and not talking =)

PS: Since sometimes I can't and other times I can't be arsed to be online, I still try to support the server by voting daily and entering the codes, which I recommend everyone to do, perhaps in time the gym will be filled with people that don't talk and things will change :D

PPS: From a Psychology perspective, this server is amazing to "study", this much hasn't changed.

1. Fantastic. All that effort I spent in college is paying off, as I finally got into the engineering department at Fluke. The downside? Between work and family life, I don't get as much free time as I would like.

2. Shaman, Zapcracklepop.

3. Hearthstone, Dragonball Z Xenoverse (god that storyline is so bad.) And whatever my PS Vita has installed

4. As Applez said, the community. It's nothing like it used to be. Everyone claims to be rank 1 or best at their class, but still keyboard turns and clicks. Finish up with BGs and arena being damn near a ghost town.

1. Hows life?

It's aight. Could be better, could be worse. Training to be a packaging machine tech. Fucking potatoes man.

2. What did you used to main?
Imperium

3. What games are you playing these days?
League of Legends, recently Bloodborne. Finally got to platinum in league and doing NG+ in BB right now, enjoying both thoroughly.

4. ..And Whats something you missed on the server?
I guess the server itself. I could play my shaman and feel good about it, the fact that it cures my nostalgia every now and then. oh, and I miss Henhouse. and Primez. and polak

1. Hows life?
Life is great, made a YouTube channel that reached over 50k subscribers and over 9m views with no advertisement of any sort or asking anyone to subscribe. It got shut down sadly. School life is great, although
like the rest of the guys here I'm really busy with work. Like Otaku mentioned about the gym, I'm going to a
gym too, 3-4 times a week . Everything is great. One more year of high school, preparing for a big exam that will be this December. Studying German and hoping to enter an university in Germany once I graduate and from there move to Japan.

2. What did you used to main?
My main is Akeno - the combat mutilate undead rogue, later renamed to Akrioss (what was i thinking) .

3. What games are you playing these days?
I barely play anything. Need For Speed Underground 2 with some random music to pass the time works, Counter Strike 1.6 with bots to clear your mind works too. I prefer to read or to draw now mostly.

4. ..And Whats something you missed on the server?
I miss the years 2011-2012, that's when i had most fun on the server, i felt like everyone knew everyone. I remember the two main guilds of Ezatt and FAK, i remember how Ezatt always claimed he was the best and I would gang his druid in battlegrounds lol. Good times. Had a lot of fun. The only thing bothering me is what Imperium I think also mentioned - everyone claims to be the best at this game. I don't see it as a challenge anymore. I login and i see players doing the same mistakes over and over again or discovering ''new tricks'' or ''new specs'' which I'm sure most of us have tried and played with through out our gaming here on Smolderforge. The people who sucked at this game never got better and those were good never got better either because there's barely any challenge. At least that's my point of view, i haven't logged in lately.

1. Hows life?
Good!

2. What did you used to main?
Lootingjoe, Dwarf Hunter

3. What games are you playing these days?
GTAV, Pokemon Trading Card Game, Flow

4. ..And Whats something you missed on the server?
When I started playing in '11, there was a lot more players. World PvP was a thing, queue for BG's weren't terrible, and there were enough people in the dueling areas to make rolling two rogues and setting them outside of Stormwind and Orgrimmar worth it.

I gotta say, LFG chat will never, ever change.

Are you joking or something? Lfg chat is barely worth mentioning nowadays and I don't get what you're trying to say at all. Some new randoms and 3-4 regulars are the only ones talking there anymore.

Seriously either you've never experienced the real SF LFG back in the day or you're just talking bullshit.

Unban ruuren.

We've let it come to a point where things like "omg why whipe swp" are the only legit LFG discussions and there are barely any other conversations there except some randoms insulting randoms. Really what is this bullshit about this guy is judging our community chat like he's never even seen it at all. Well he's clearly the one to judge just like gamemasters who were negatively affected by the person(s) they are judging on.

Stop the madness.
