I don't get it.
PLEASE, USE COMMON SENSE, READ THE WHOLE THING BEFORE YOU LOCK / DELETE IT.
Ok so, we all know what kind of crap Mangos is, it lags ALOT when someone is doing PVE, and/or when there are around 60 players online. So my question is: Why mangos? Why not Trinityemu?
Sure, you would lose some vendors and maybe few custom raids, and by worst case character wipe. Character wipe can be dealed with if everyone gets their donations back (same mechanic as now, they tell you the email it was donated from). Sure, would make you do some work but hey, anything for less lag and more players, right? But the thing is, its a PVP server. Now, lets see what we would GET.
- Working wound poison
- Working traps
- Working second winds
- Working spell reflect macros etc
- PoM & NS & other spells that makes other spells instant doesnt get stuck like they do in mangos
- Pets run through pillars
- Vanish is bugged
- STABILITY - Henhouse, don't freaking go "mangos is more stable" before testing trinity out because you KNOW you're talking bullshit when you say mangos is more stable.
- 99% of talents working
and much more.
Now, lets see. 2 custom raids, buggy and laggy server vs. working and unlaggy server. Hmm, "hard" indeed.
So henhouse, just stop being stubborn and do something FOR THE PLAYERS and especially the DONATORS which help you keep the server up. We didn't pay to play on a laggy server (sometimes its UNPLAYBLE, making the donation useless).
So PLEASE, consider it and don't just lock/delete this topic.

EDIT:Henhouse,no idea if you noticed but the PvP quality at the moment is EXTREMLY bad, rank 2 right now are HORRIBLE Warrior/Druid(no we didnt lose to 'em,i am not crying).99% of the times when you que up you get versus HORRIBLE players.I am sure switching to Trinity will bring some good players(PVP server, right)
My 2 cents

Would be interesting to see implemented.

Yeah. Fatal was good server, BECAUSE IT WAS WORKING. Also, the people PLAYING were good. Not some scrub CZE blood elf mages with strength gems.

Re: I don't get it.
I made a reply to this 30 minutes ago, and it apparently didn't go through. I'll do my best at re-writing this.
TrinityCore is the same as MaNGOS, only modified. This repack that was linked for me is NOT the source files, but the compiled result, therefore I cannot edit anything causing many more problems for us.
Whether things work in this or not, I'm not going to spend hours on end attempting to convert our database and characters which total over 2 gigabytes of data. One mistake could cause me to have to start all over again and it's a very lengthly process I'm just not going to do.
I'm sorry that you feel these servers which have no knowledge of anything and are people download and run repacks and custom databases, but I spend too much time for anything such as this to look into again. Yes, again. I converted Smolderforge to Trinity a few months back when MaNGOS went to Git and I didn't quite understand it. All the core modifying they did was really bad, they were making little changes that screwed up several things. That's stable? I do beg to differ because Trinity is not stable and don't get confused with the meaning of stable. Stable is not working spells. Stable is server uptime and not crashing, which MaNGOS clearly has over Trinity. Smolderforge (last time I logged in) was at 3 days uptime. You don't see that often. So I did look into Trinity at one time, these fixes may be in the core and not the repack which would, yes make me able to modify codes in order to get Smolderforge running off of it. However, I do not have the time currently to attempt running another test on Trinity to a core I really don't look forward to switching too. With all their database changes it's possible Trinity project could fail like Antrix, Ascent, ArcEmu has all done in the past, and here we would be, stuck on a converted database, with no way to revert these changes without restoring us from many months back (assuming if it would fail months later as an example) losing many, many player's data.
Did you know that to change all the players location back to the mall (the mass teleports to mall I do time to time) takes about 5 minutes? Imagine having to go into a database and edit over 110,000 entries. It takes a while, so when you get big changes to the database, it can take a very, very long time. In order to do this with live characters, the server would have to be shut down for a long time and hopefully come back with a non-buggy server. Which is unlikely in the end.
Now I can see this from a player's point of view, where you think you understand switching is a matter of copying and pasting. But it's not, you have NO idea how this stuff works, the hours that would be involved, and the end result really doesn't affect me in any way. I do plenty for the players, and saying I don't just angers me. I have spent months of my time working on Smolderforge for you. I don't make that much money off donations and the price is low because that's the way I want it to me. Including your "character wipe could be done" I'm sorry, but I'm not going to sit around for days, waiting for over 300 donors to reopen tickets, spend time teleporting them, learning their spells. I'm sorry, but no I do NOT have the time to do that. If I did a character wipe, I would most likely only teleport donor s i n the past month.
So, yes I can considered it, way before any of you knew what Trinity was. Go on their forums, I'm one of the first members to register there. I was involved with it before any of you, and I wasn't very pleased. The reason I lock other topics is NOT because I don't have "common sense" but because people like you do not use common sense to search these forums for the answers which have already been posted. Now, you can argue with that fact because I've explained in detail exactly why.
But when there is something you want, I highly suggest not insulting the person you're trying to convince first.
I apologize for the typos in here, I have to go, right now.

Re: I don't get it.
Oh I completely forgot to mention the fact that Trinity doesn't make bandwidth appear. Especially if it's really MaNGOS but with modifications. We'll still have lag, we'll still max at 100 people.

Re: I don't get it.
Heh, son. I told you to not talk before you've tested something thats released by someone who knows what theyre doing (no offense). You've clearly said you don't know crap bout c++, so compiling your own doesn't really give the best results.
Fatalwow had Trinityemu running for ONE MONTH STRAIGTH, and it had NO lag whatsoever when someone did PVE / players were online. I've never seen smolderforge be lag-free even for ONE, freaking ONE day, and you dare to call mangos stable?
You could run a query to teleport everyone to donor island that has donorID on their character in your database if you had to wipe the characters.
You're talking about how Trinity project could fall apart months from now...Ok, you lost the point. The current version is pretty much 100% unbugged in the PVP point of view. You wouldn't have to update the core.
And I bet, 95% of the players doesn't give a shit about some scripted custom raids or mall. You coul'd redo the mall in very short time.
I do understand that switching the cores and database etcetera isnt done in 1 hour, but its still doable. Especially if you'd get a bugfree server.
