Thank you everyone for your feedback with the new in-game poll system! We're really excited about this new feature since we can gather tenfold the amount of responses we could on these forums!
Overall, we recorded 1798 answers over the course of the week the polls were open.
Please remember the data we collect is for consideration and for gathering community opinions. The selections on here are you share with you the feedback we collected, and our thoughts on it.
Poll 1: Should we make the 'Idle' debuff (for being reported AFK) in BGs kick players from the BG as it was in Wrath? Or leave it the same to where they stay in the BG but do not recieve honor or marks as in TBC?
Yes: 528
No: 152
Response: I expected this outcome for this poll. I believe the question didn't fully clarify the method of doing this, however. People complained we were implementing a "vote to kick" but that is simply not the case. If 3+ players mark someone as AFK in the battleground they receive a 60 second debuff called "Inactive" during these 60 seconds, you have to simply enter combat to clear the debuff. If the debuff is not cleared in those 60 seconds, the player is flagged "Idle" -- with this debuff they cannot receive honor or marks from the battleground. In version 3.+ of the game, this was made to simply kick players from the battleground for being inactive too long. On there this may prove helpful to those who've been patiently waiting in the queue, while someone takes up spots being AFK. This is something we'll look into a consider adding/trying out.
Poll 2: Out of the following things, what do you value as the most important work being done on this server?
PvP fixes: 242
PvE fixes: 89
Server performance: 110
New content / features: 128
Response: I was very curious to see the community's response on this question. I expected PvP to come out on top as usual. Without PvP though, the other options were all very close. PvP fixes are rolling in thanks to Exsurgo, and new features/content do still roll in. Transmog, Aszshara Crater, and soon, Scarlet Citadel have all been huge additions to the server in the recent months. As for server performance, there isn't a whole lot we can do about that.
Our performance is not a result of our server hardware, because our server hardware is very good. It's the fact that the 2.4.3 core is ancient, and it's poorly programmed to handle so much activity. However, it's something that is always, always thought about highly and we will always keep an eye on trying to improve it overall.
PvE fixes being the least popular was not surprising. Depending on my time and since I have learned a lot from scripting Scarlet Citadel, I would enjoy taking a look into classic content in the future. A few days ago I spawned one of the supression rooms of Blackwing Lair, as well as the entrance room with its eggs almost exactly blizzlike (took screenshots). I think it would be fun to get places like Blackwing Lair, Molten Core, etc. working like they should when I have free time. It's something I'll have to look into when time allows me.
Poll 3: If we were to implement the Tabard of Frost/Flame, how would you like to see them implemented?
Vote points: 115
Arena points/rating: 61
Donation exclusive: 53
Honor points: 185
Badges: 135
Response: I threw this poll option in there because many people have been asking me why these tabards were removed so long ago. I removed them for the same reason I removed the Raven Lord, Rivendare's Charger, and a few others -- to be implemented later. Some of those mounts found their way back in .... one in particular didn't. The tabards never came back into play either. The Burning Crusade is limited. I cannot pull new mounts, new items, etc. from anywhere. Eventually things run out... there is no end-game. Me reserving these things has mainly been to make something always desired... something that cannot be obtained. Having everything ruins the game. Many people ask me why I never give my player characters (which I rarely play) anything I want in the game; the answer is the same: it ruins the value and fun in the game.
Now, I don't believe these tabards being implemented will ruin anything; however, I do believe that for the reasons they were reserved hold true for the bigger items like the mounts. Such feedback we gathered is good. I was disappointed with the vote points being lower. Players ask me constantly to add new vote items... but it appears that's not truly what players want. Transmog maybe is already costing them all their votes so I can imagine why they would want to spend something else. Honor would be a good choice, but so would vote points still maybe. We'll see.
