Poll: Preservation of Donor Accounts

Our current system is not designed to recognize a donor by their account, only per character. When I say donor in this content, I'm referring to the $5 S4 package donation. Due to this, when account prunes and cleanups are performed during extended maintenances (where we wipe accounts & characters inactive for 10+ months) we have no easy access to the script knowing who is a donor since your account has nothing to do with donorship.

Now, I can begin to start having players' accounts flagged now upon donation code claims (S4 or any donation type), however all the donors before will not get this. A solution is for me to make an NPC in the donor mall (once again S4 people only) that will check if you have this flag, if not, allows you to flag your account to not be removed during these cleanups.


Now, the prunes are helpful to the server. They keep it clean, free up names, inactive data, etc.; however, I would say the majority are probably non-donor.


What are your thoughts on this? I ask because I receive ~10 emails a month asking where their (donor) account went and if I can restore their long-gone deleted characters, which I cannot do by that time.

Voted yes on the traditional S4 donorship. I mean if you donate just for one item... Your loss bub. Go for the account preserve for the S4 donorship.

Sounds great, not sure on any donation though, having access to the donation mall makes it way easier to implement imo, so go with that one I'd say. In the end there are still like 80 e-mails left, which don't make any sense to begin with. ^^

Having the npc in the donor mall seems like a good way to do it. Maybe have an ocasional donor-mall wide announcement so that people there are informed about it?

Yeah I think you might've scrapped one of my donor accounts lol. I only play like December-January so I wouldnt want my extended breaks to fuck me. I'd prefer to just be able to flag an account and keep it safe

This feature has been implemented for Season 4 donors and is available for donors that claimed before this was implemented in the donor mall. Look for the preservation crystal NPC!
