3.0.9 Testing Report

So I compiled a 3.0.9 server the other day, to see how far MaNGOS has come since I last checked it. Death Knights are still very broken, however I didn't encounter any bugs on the few classes I tried out (that being the new abilities).

I'm a bit surprised that it's come along along from being tremendously buggy when I first tried it. :P However, I'm not saying all bugs are actually fixed, because I'm sure there are a few out there still. For those wondering, I didn't test Grounding Totem or Wound Poison, however Wound Poison was fixed already for 3.0 but wasn't applied to 2.4.3 because it wouldn't work I heard. I'll probably test a few of these tomorrow when I have time, or when I'm on Spring Break.

Lets see... Some of the things I tried off the top of my head would be Titan Grip which works fine, Divine Storm, Cheat Death, and several others Fluckadin tried (yes I let him on, anyone could too if they were on vent).


Now, you've probably heard me say maps were deleted in 3.0... well I was wrong. I made a mistake, there's a table in the world database called `instance_template` and it registered maps, well ones that are not accessible to players are not listed in that map(for some reason "Testing" and SWV are exceptions to this). Well since it was a Wrath testing DB I didn't think that the maps wouldn't be registered and when I tried to teleport to the maps, they simply came up with an error. So Emerald Dream, SC( <unused>Monastery), Hen's Palace (Sunwell FIX), Azshara Crater, are all still in the game :)

Know you're probably wondering where I'm going with this; I don't really plan on updating Smolderforge, at least, not right now, we would need to announce an update date a long time before we did. We gave players 1 WEEK and only about 50 accounts updated to 3.0.3 when we told them. Out of the 35,000 people at that time probably over 1000 being active through the week, only 50 updated. That's the problem, it's like TV's going to Digital, there's some people that just don't get with the program.


Anyway, let me know what ya'll think since I like to hear options -- for they make my decisions.

PS: Oh I actually like the "A GM Would Like to Speak to you. Press Here to Begin!" feature... sort of. It's cool in a sense of being a GM, however a player can just not accept that and ignore what the GM says... lol...

Just leave DKs out. They ruin everything.

Oh, and GMs don't need the player's acceptance to start talking to them. I didn't notice the thing while I was leveling my toon and suddenly a GM started talking :p

DK's arent really buggy, only the Unholy spec. Blood works fine not 100% tho, same as frost.

Most servers leave DKs out because most of the DK area and quests are bugged. If you can get the spells and items in an npc and a trainer it would probably be different. But i still think they should be removed or you could let them there and announce that nobody an complain about them. I don't know. Looking forward to an update or a new server. ^^

We'll most likely disable them, no worries. And was this on retail? They probably have it coded better than us, I tried whispering and stuff and it always come up with that message. However I can ask MaNGOS to extend of the coding of it. For example, notice how on SF it always say ticket will be serviced soon and not a wait time? Yeah we don't have that sadly.

@Sariks I think you got confused, I didn't mean buggy like OP or anything, I mean their spells aren't working because they are not coded right. The first three I tested were all bugged >_<

Hey, I talked to Mysterious and we're possibly thinking of shutting Smolderforge down




for three hours on Saturday. (HAHA sorry for the spaces I had to) What I'll do is, since it's the SF inactive time when it's about 11PM-1AM here I'll shut SF down, copy the character database and world database to new ones, upgrade them to Wrath, and see if we run into that spell problem again or what-not and have some people test out the PvP and stuff.

Anyone be interested in having a Public Test Realm open on SF like on Saturday to do this?

I think we would be probably testing class spells and not NPCs and areas because those are not that important in a PvP server, so i don't see a need for GM status. Or maybe this isn't what you are talking about. =P
