Damn, seems like all the big MMO's that have come out recently have to switch to free-to-play after a year or two. I reckon it'll be the same with Tera online which is why I won't be paying for too much in advance.

Idk, Aion is too easternized for me. I played their free weekend thing or whatever, and I was not that impressed with the exception of eye candy and visuals.
Waiting on GW2, I'll play it regardless of if it sucks ass or not because it'll be the next AAA MMO that hits the market, and will have functions and features to keep me around. Safe to say I'll no longer play anything else, I'm sure.

I tried Aion and it gave horrible impressions, as well did Rift for that matter. Many MMOs that are simply unappealing will not reach large audiences and therefore they are FORCED to go free-to-play to continue running or they would have to shutdown. Free to play then allows people to buy items, and obtain advantages over other users in the game via money than actually playing. Undermines the value of the game and ruins it. (adds to my argument in another thread of why free-to-play games are bad)

If you've been spoiled by WoW it's practically impossible to appreciate and enjoy many other MMOs. I actually thought SW:TOR was going to have potential. It's cinematics looked awesome so I hoped the gameplay would too. Completely night and day comparison there when i was in the beta -- I hated it. Movement was horrible, 2d backdrops, loading screens everywhere, etc. Was like a RPG with some MMO qualities to qualify as being an MMO rather than a real MMO with a world to explore in like Blizzard's. Also they use a horrible game engine to power their MMO hence the absolute horrible PvP. There's almost no end-game content from what I've heard too. They spent all their time designing the leveling portion?

GW2 is taking an interesting approach with innovating questing and doing it differently than the questing we all tend to hate and ignore. They also are using a phasing system that doesn't ruin the game for everywhere where they are 50 players in a zone but 20 are in phase 1, 5 in phase 2, 5 in phase 3, 10 in phase 4, 10 in phase 5, etc. To where the actual MMO aspect is being ruined in questing by Blizzard.

Now, I haven't had the ability to try GW2 obviously though I did opt to enter the beta so we'll see when the time comes. It may hold promise, but as every MMO for the past 5 years has been named "WoW Killer" nothing has even come remotely close to succeeding. Ever. The only thing that will ever kill WoW, is WoW and they're already doing that.

Tbh, Aion was not easternised as you think, it was more aimed at the Japanese/Korean market as it was released 2 years in Japan and Korea 2 years before the EU/US got it, and the Visuals were beautiful you cannot say you was not happy with a visually stunning game, which made you go wow Why was i ever playing WoW(well at least it did me)and if you did whine about the GFX style then you are just plain stupid.

And GW2 will take over everything, And it will be FTP with some Micro transactions.

Really now? Please do share your train of thought, because from here it seems to have derailed.

I have played the Beta and got my hands on a Veteran account.Yes I will be playing it with my friends...regardless of its crapness.Fresh air from wow...and since the Smolder WotLK server is nowhere to be found the more reason to try it and maybe stick with it till GW2.

Sorry, but Adam and me both have Uni. I think we're both just trying to finish out the year so we can focus on Wrath more then.

Well, face it WoW's GFX style is out dated and boring, So whining about a differance GFX style is just retarded, And find me another MMO which looks as amazing as Aion and has one of the best battle systems i have seen.
