I've been meaning to make a thread regarding some of the details about the server it's just I'm afraid I wouldn't give enough details to really satisfy what people are expecting. For example, no pricing or anything has been decided or setup so I have no information regarding that at this time. That will probably be decided near the end, as will donations.

I can say that we're still slowly working on the design of the mall and the approach we're taking with that. It's one I've never honestly seen before and I'm nervous it might be successful or it might not. But I'm trying to make it idiot-proof but we'll see. I want to plan a closed and open beta and where people can submit feedback regarding the beta and answer questions on what worked, what did not, suggestions, thoughts, etc. That would be amazing to receive tester input and feedback.

Also, big news: Subway/Adam (creator of Pineapple-WoW before acquired into SF Wrath) has semi rejoined the team and is currently helping with production. However, we've been spending a lot of effort of the website design. I've had this under wraps for a very long time now but Smolderforge actually does have a website that is underway and has been for some time now. It's a fully featured website where you'll be able to do a lot with we're hoping. So far the design changes periodically as we've been adding to it lately and adding more content and transitioning and upgrading vote/donate code and such. That's been the placement of the majority of our time now.

Adam, has programmed an entire framework that will power the site for speed and security which is really cool and very integrable with adding new things to the site. I would love to showcase a preview but since the site is constantly changing I wouldn't want to show anything until it's near-finished. I have let some select few members preview the site for their input but asked they do not share the URL to prevent spreading and receiving feedback we do not want while still in the development process.

The point of completing a site is one for many reasons. We want to have the site finished and out before Wrath, completely. For too long has Smolderforge just been an account creation page with only really the forums to manifest as its site. Sure, I programmed the account manager and added things on like the Armory over time but it's always been like Smolderforge is a site of many sites instead of one that really centralizes it all. With this new site there will be many, many new and exciting things that will be possible. Firstly, the vote system will be improved by simply earning vote points instead of having no choice on what to receive. Wrath and TBC voting will be under 1 name now to help us rank higher on voting sites (36 as TBC only so far!). You will be able to spend these points on renames, badges, emblems, race/faction change & recustomization(Wrath only) and maybe more things in the future when we think of them. The decision to implement some "donation coins" or anything like that was decided against for several reasons. Having a point system for donations takes away the ability to donate for friends or things of that matter. For example, on Molten to donate for a friend you must login to his account and donate. Which causes 2 major security problems. Their account is compromised as could be the safely of your Card information or whatever if Molten records such things. So we decided to continue the donation system we have in place with codes as they seem to work wonderfully and are enjoyed by many people. We might possibly record donations if you're logged in in case we do anything with them in the future.

We're looking into possibly being able to link your in-game account with your forum account now. Nothing has been done with that so far, but we are hopeful to have success with that.

Switching back to the main things you're interested in: Wrath. The ideas I had for a mall were different than many other people. When designing TBC many years ago I used the argument of putting TBC in the "old world" and argued it was easier on computer's loading, not everyone may of had TBC installed, etc. Points that are... barely applicable today. In fact we've demonstrated wholeheartedly that the Smolderforge mall on TBC can definitely cause loading and performance problems on computers due to the over-flooding of people we have there. So when I started brainstorming I felt that putting a mall anywhere in the old world would destroy the "Wrath of the Lich King" feel. Why put a server in the same place as others, or places that bring back memories of leveling? I decided, it would be most invigorating of feeling to place in the mall in the most central Wrath-feeling place----Dalaran.

Now, why Dalaran; how would that work? Many questions I most certainly pondered too. Well, a few reasons it is helpful to begin with. It's a sanctuary, Horde and Alliance are already split, it contains a large amount of things we would have to add into a mall manually--banks, guild banks, innkeepers, arena gear, pve gear, queuing, dueling, etc. Is already there. It's also bordered off so you can't walk across a line and start fighting each other, you would have to fly away.

My idea was to take an approach that would lead you in the right direction. After several hours of tinkering around I came up with the concept of an introduction. You wake up, follow a very easy quest that involves running up stairs to your next objective. The intro is short and, if followed, should educate you on what to do. You use the teleporter to navigate throughout Points of Interest within the city. You take the teleporter to PvE Gear, Arena Gear, queuing, training dummies, mount learning & purchase, weekly raid quest, banks, dueling, professions, etc, etc. Or of course you can always run there, but you rely on that to navigate to those places so you learn where they are with in the city of Dalaran. Once you know where they are the city comes alive much like it did on retail -- that's the feeling we're trying to recreate.

But that's about all the work we've really been able to accomplish so far. My time is limited and I need a lot of help with Wrath ideas and design from experienced people to help sort of give me feedback as I go. The entire thing of designing a new server is tedious at times, but it's somewhat enjoyable. I just need constant reassuring that what I am indeed doing is going to be good or work, etc. I don't want to waste time of anything I am afraid will fail in the future.

With that said, I maybe can post screenshots soon but I have a good feeling about things. Judging by the horrible quality found in funservers that are instant 80 currently within the top 25... we should do very well already. But I am taking things slow and making sure I am doing this right, I want more feedback and will try to accommodate ways to accomplish that. I am shooting for a possible late spring/early summer release. I feel that when I am out of uni (very end of April/start of May) I will have much time to really kick things into nearing release. Hopefully....

Oh, and a few points I forgot to mention we're hoping that by the time we release the server we will have Dynamic vmaps, Movement Maps and Warden all integrated. (dynamic vmaps is gameobject line of sight support, movement maps is pathing for NPCs, and Warden you already know)

I thank you for your reply Hen.
No ETAs but still...we got some information and we now know it's still happening.

PS:Dalaran mall is a risky idea considering people might still have shitty pcs.
